Cal Football Transfer Weekend Visits Included WR Ian Strong, Edge Kamauryn Morgan
The California Golden Bears are attracting some high-level talent to visit Berkeley.
The transfer portal will be seeing many college football players visit Cal over the next two weeks. Here are some more of the confirmed visits from the past weekend.
Rutgers WR Ian Strong
Strong took a visit to Cal this weekend and is one of the top wide receiver targets in the portal. But he will be visiting Notre Dame this week, so this could be a tough recruiting battle.
Cal is seeking top wide receiver talent to bolster the offense for Jaron-Keawe Sagapolutele. Chase Hendricks of Ohio (one of the best MAC transfers) also visited this past weekend. There was hope Cal could land local prospects, but Jackson Harris (from Berkeley, at Hawaii, transferred to LSU) and Danny Scudero (from San Jose State, transferred to Colorado) chose to go national.
Baylor edge Kamauryn Morgan
The Bears will also want to upgrade their pass rush profile next season after years of struggling to generate havoc upfront. The talented Big 12 freshman fits the profile of high upside, extreme talent.
Plenty of competition, and Morgan hails from Texas, but this would be a huge win, especially if he can be paired with new edge commit Solomon Williams.
James Madison DB DJ Barksdale
Barksdale visited this past weekend. Despite only being sized up at 5-9, Barksdale is a very solid nickel talent who goes toe-to-toe with many great wide receivers. He’d be an underrated find.
Barksdale is visiting UCLA though, and the cornerbacks coach from James Madison is joining Bob Chesney, so this is going to be another pitched battle. But UCLA’s defensive back room is crowded and Cal will have openings. There will be opportunity.

Cal Football Welcomes Transfer Portal Visitors in Berkeley this Weekend with Tosh Lupoi
The work never stops. After issuing a shutout of Texas Tech to send Oregon into the College Football Playoff semifinals, Tosh Lupoi has reportedly returned to Berkeley for a brief period to try and c…

Big names will probably come off the board quickly. A bit difficult with a new coaching staff, but we're hardly unique in this situation and Tosh is actively participating in it despite his playoff obligations.
WRs as a category aren't expensive but TOP WRs are. I'm sure we'll be VERY generous in our offer to Ian Strong in hopes of keeping JKS happy.
EDGE is somewhat similar to WR on the defensive side. I'm not sure how to assess our needs on defense but I'm glad we already brought in someone.
We REALLY need to get some OTs, though. Not sure if we have the ability or desire to overspend on elite talent. This position stresses me out for obvious reasons.
