I don’t understand why all teams didn’t. This is basically what WSU did. Nevada kind of did it but their DEs were good enough to beat Daltoso so they eased off that and just rushed 4. UW did the same during the start of the game but then kind of stopped when we hit some plays.
I forgot who said it but someone said our 1st ranked rush D was phony because we hadn't played anyone good on O the last month. Tonight sure showed it. 282 rush yards on us good lord.
That was easily the worst half we've played under Wilcox. We've had other bad halves, but we had excuses for those. Today we just got run out of the stadium by a team that's nothing special.
I guess part of it is how long you've been watching. Since 2001-ish for me. There were a few epic losses in that time where we looked like an FCS team.
But it feels like we rarely showed much promise inside the seasons with which those occurred, like we do with Wilcox. That's whats so frustrating about him the last 2 maybe 3 years. Completely, I mean entirely different Cal teams show up from week to week. You never know which unit is going to shit the beg, while other units look stellar. They rotate sucking and playing well.. And then every once in a while, they all come together. And every once in a while, they all play like shit at the same time.
Always a problem when Daniel Scott seemed to be making every play on defense. Why is Lic Bequette still on the field? He never makes plays. Give the young kids a chance.
haha remember in week 1, Penn State beat Wisconsin with only ~17 minutes time of possession for the entire game (to Wisconsin's ~42 minutes) and still won the game.
Please lord move on. He is not a good passing QB. Bottom quartile in D1 at best. Good instincts and running ability behind a mediocre line. We really need a good passing QB who can find tigers over the middle. Give Milner the start last game…nothing to lose!
It’s that easy to stop this offense. Just blitz them into submission. Musgrave and Garbers can’t adjust to beat the blitz and Musgrave doesn’t have the patience to call run play after run play and match downfield. He gets cute and impatient and decides to pass.
If you’re USC all you have to do is continually blitz this OL and Garbers. If I’m an opposing DC I would call A gap blitzes over and over until Cals offense can show the ability to stop me. It’s that easy to stop this offense.
Put in Sturdivant but it was too little too late. And why is Remigio a breakaway threat on returns yet can't make a grab and get any YAC in the offense? Weird.
The level of confidence this dogschitt UCLA D has played with this entire game is a problem for Wilcox....UCLA has played like they were never going to lose this game. Never.
First half was competitive and this second half is flat out embarrassing. Some of the worst football I’ve ever seen. Defense completely confused and tackling poorly and offense completely inept against a mediocre team. This is grounds for Wilcox to be fired.
Chip Kelly worst UCLA coach and owns Wilcox…who has a Pac-12 record like Holmoe. Is what it is.
I believe Chip now has three 20+ point victories over Wilcox as Cals head coach.

Those Stanford teams were physically dominant in the trenches on both sides...they controlled the LOS. Their OL never got overwhelmed like this....

Still want a shot at them. 4-7, 4-8, who cares? But beating SC would be fun (potential upside outweighs potential downside imo).
If we beat them, then we end the season feeling pretty good, at least that for that weekend.

We got beat down like this for all 4 quarters by Utah once, if I recall correctly.
That was with a 3rd string, true FR QB and missing most of the O-line....this is different.
But Garbers is technically at <1 years of experience right now because the dial resets to 0 at some point
