Sure seems this results in a net upgrade to talent in the RB room. You need at least 3 in a season. As others are saying, it's all eyes on Oline and QB.
Respectfully disagree with "rather"... If we get to build good depth at one position at a time then I am happy with the progress. I sort of agree, though, because I am more afraid of the lack of even adequate front line talent at QB and OL. I was pessimistic that HS signees and only a couple of transfers did not net enough talent. The grade of RB's coming in is nice, though, so maybe the coaches will continue with targeted talent...maybe... The TE transfers are not highest stars, but some analysts like the idea they are heavy into blocking, so, again maybe it makes sense...maybe... I am not excited that Wilcox can bring the floor up as HC. Given that I am a CAL fan and he's not going away any time soon...I can't pump the sunshine but I can rationalize a scenario where this is building a better talent/scheme alignment...Is that an example of Stockholm syndrome?
I'll completely disagree with you re TE's and OL. I think both incoming tight ends, while having lower star rankings than Terry, will play better. They will certainly block better, and it won't be tough to catch better. I think you need to look at the player in college and see film on them. High school star rankings mean nothing in FBS and P5 football after the first year. Second, while we may not be deep on our o-line, we do have big athletic guys who need to be coached up. I think McClure was a fucking disaster. I am hopeful Bloesch will do a much better job. Only time will tell. As to QB I agree. We need to land a stud QB and soon.
Yeah. That Bear Insider quote..."After the departure of a pair of tight ends not known for their blocking,". Which makes me wonder...who the heck is Alberding?
I hope. Otherwise we'll have to run an experimental offense. Seriously the triple option can be a panacea for those teams with undersized O-lines like one sees at the service academies. Maybe Knowlton (Air Force) is leaning this way.
I desperately hope Knowlton is completely uninvolved in the intricacies of offensive strategy. It's debatable if he's good at his own job, we don't need him trying to do Spav's job.
The recruiting pitch is NOT to RB's saying they will have great stats running behind a great line...It's telling OL's the NFL will eventually care about RB's again so it's time to line up in front of talent!
Do these guys know something about incoming OL talent that we haven’t heard?
Solid.
Dude moves at a different speed (in his HS Hudl......). WOW!
He was ranked 2 slots higher among RB's coming out of HS than Ott... Imagine all those guys pushing each other.

So ... Rugbear is right?
This kid had offers from Princeton and Yale coming out of HS. Must be a smart kid.

Nice!
is there some sort of triple option-wildcat formation i dont know about?
The Heavy Bear Formation.
All blocks are cut blocks now.
We'll run the double-wing, one ball carrier, 10 blockers!
Right! When U have no QB every play is a WildBear play!
Penn State T formation
Who needs a QB when we can have 3 RBs on the field at the same time.
would rather get an o-lineman or a qb, 3 4 star rb’s are good.

I think TEs are our new O-linemen….

Hopefully the repeated mentions "two Cal Bear Quarterbacks" on the primetime game tonight influences our recruits.
"Butte Community College" again...
sigh...
Yeah it seems to me he alternates between Cal and Butte each year. I think he said Cal last year
Don’t you mean, “Butte Community College”?
At least for Rogers
Maybe.
But the announcer kept saying "Cal"
Great day for Cal Football with Davis Webb also making his first NFL start! Poor guy did the best with backups playing all game
He DID run through a guy for a TD…..
One of the two playing tonight is old enough to be the dad of these recruits.
Which one?
Well GOFF is my daddy
We can have NICE THINGS!!!
Next up is a nice O-line

And just like that, we had running back depth- again.
Hopefully this comment isn't one of those that doesn't age well..
DOOM!
And Bob will once again complain about it.
It would not be worth losing Ott over. So, it does make me a bit nervous.
Love the signing, but must admit, I’m a little nervous why he’s on board with Ott & Cardwell, TBH…hope Ott is committed to Cal.
Welp, in a run-heavy offense, it makes sense to have depth.
Let's hope all three get that.
But, here I am forgetting, that we need a rebuilt O-Line- pronto!
Welcome to Berkeley!
Our transition to the wishbone-T continues apace... 🤪
We've been thinking about this all wrong!
