Cal Men's Basketball On The Edge of the Bubble
A tough performance on Saturday leaves the Bears with little margin for error.
The California Golden Bears didn’t achieve the result they wanted against Clemson to get themselves on the right side of the NCAA Tournament bubble, but they are still very much in the mix for a bid. Cal is ranked at 60th in NET today, placing them in or out depending on the bracket you look at.
The good news for Cal is their win against Stanford have moved up from Quad 2 to Quad 1, giving them four top-notch wins and a 4-5 record in Quad 1. They have four chances now at big wins, with one coming this week.
Current brackets from mainstream sources are bubble-licious.
ESPN’s Joe Lunardi places Cal as the first team out
CBS Sports also places Cal as the first team out.
247Sports places Cal is the first team out.
Bracket Matrix has Cal has alongside New Mexico and Missouri and Oklahoma State as the four teams on the outside looking in. Only 33 of the 99 brackets have Cal in the Dance at this time.
Cal will have a big shot tomorrow against Syracuse to notch a major Quad 1 victory, then has to beat Boston College to keep their Quad 3/Quad 4 chart clean. But with games running out, they really can’t lose much more.
