Cal men's basketball makes the final four for top ten 2025 prospect Isiah Harwell
Harwell is set to make a decision between Cal, Houston, Texas and Gonzaga in September.
Cal men’s basketball has nearly completed their task of rebuilding their squad for the 2024 roster via the transfer portal. Cal then took a huge step forward in their 2025 recruiting cycle by landing the commitment of top 50 shooting guard Jovani Ruff, one of Cal’s biggest recruiting wins in the past decade.
Now, there’s big news around top 10 prospect Isiah Harwell. He is seriously considering the California Golden Bears.
After placing Cal in his top 12, Harwell trimmed it to four, and the Bears made the cut this weekend along with Gonzaga, Houston, and Texas.
Harwell will take an official visit to Berkeley at the end of the month on June 25-26. He is then set to make a decision on September 12.
Harwell has cited his life-long relationship with Cal assistant Amorrow Morgan being a contributing factor. More from On3:
“Coach Amarrow Morgan grew up with my dad. So he has been a really close family friend for a while. I’ve been talking with Coach Mark (Madsen). You know, Jaylen Brown went out there and had a lot of success, so it is an underrated school. It is always good if you can go somewhere, produce massive minutes, and change things around. They’re starting to play well these last few games.”
It’s safe to say Harwell committing would be the biggest Cal men’s basketball commitment since the duo of Jaylen Brown and Ivan Rabb came to the Bears in 2015.
Keep an eye out here. Mark Madsen and the Bears are in it to win it.
On On3, we're top 2.
Wow, great to hear he is considering the Golden Bears. Hearing from the young man and seeing a few of his highlights, this is a guy who has a good perspective on the team game, and an intuitive and advanced court sense for his age. Let’s hope he also understands the benefit of forming a lifelong relationship with the University of California, Berkeley. As a prominent Cal recruit in 1985 once said, “Cal’s where it’s at.”
