Cal men's basketball lands grad transfer PG Jovan Blacksher from Grand Canyon
The California Golden Bears are almost done filling out their 2024 roster.
Mark Madsen and the Cal men’s basketball coaching staff has done nothing but recruit non-stop for weeks on end since the team opened. They are almost done, with the commitment of Grand Canyon point guard Jovan Blacksher Jr. being the latest addition this week.
Blacksher averaged 15.8 points a game with 4 assists and 1.7 steals per game in 2021-22 at GCU, and shot 39% from three, leading toward earning first team All-WAC honors. This is a bit of a homecoming for Blacksher, who was born in Oakland before moving to Arizona.
ACL issues cut his last two seasons short and forced him into a more limited role, but he was given one more season and seems to be fully healthy for his final season in college. Blacksher Jr. will have as good a chance as any of the guards on this new look Bears team to compete for a starting spot.
Here are the other roster additions from the 2024 cycle.
Cal has one more scholarship left for the 2024 class. Who will it go to?
Welcome to California Jovan! Go Bears!
Wow. Just wow. Mark madsen is starting to show himself as a recruiting god. He has put
the ACC on notice. I know that the Atlantic Coast Conference thought they were getting a Cupcake victory, And maybe they are. However, you're going to have a very difficult timw diigesting this cookie coming from Berkeley. It is not going to go down the digestive system well for the atlantic coast conference teams.
Steady, veteran presence at a crucial position that gave us troubles last year in many facets…hope he’s recovered well.
