Cal men's basketball lands top JUCO talent Jeff Nwankwo
Mark Madsen and the Bears get another major commitment in the transfer portal.
The California Golden Bears men’s basketball team landed one of their top wing targets in junior college transfer Jeff Nwankwo. Nwankwo committed this morning to Mark Madsen to give the Bears their second scholarship transfer of this cycle.
Nwankwo also received offers from Colorado, Arkansas, Ole Miss, LSU, and Arizona State while getting decent interest from Kansas. Nwankwo started his career as a football receiver in Tulane before moving back to football.
A 6-6, 210 pound wing Nwankwo has been ranked as the 7th best JUCO prospect by JUCO Recruiting. A member of the Cowley College Tigers, he was MVP of the Jayhawk Conference as well as 1st Team All-KJCCC, averaging 18.6 points, 7.6 rebounds, and 2 steals while shooting 37% from three on five attempts a game.
Nwanko joins Vanderbilt big Lee Dort as scholarship adds to Cal men’s basketball, with many more to come. Cal needs as many wings as they can find to restock for their inaugural ACC campaign.
Welcome to Cal Jeff! Go Bears!
A phenomenal athlete
Wow, dude has quick feet w the ball in his hands! Does years of eligibility even WORTH asking about these days, since recruiting the roster seems to be an annual chore? Well done Mad Dog Mark!
