I don't know any of them...

I said all year not one player was a solid D1 player, who could shot it into the ocean. The best thing to do is dump everyone from last year.

Don't blame anyone for wanting out after being subjected to having Fox as their coach.

I initially get nervous with every player entering the portal, and then I tell myself 3-29 or whatever it was. Madsen knows his task ahead. I believe he above most is straightforward and believable about what he wants to do, and how it will be. So any player knowing that and choosing to leave is truly not a good fit for Madsen or Cal. So after my initial thought, I just wish them well in life and whatever inferior school they get a degree from.

Agreed…I mean, the kids played hard thru a real tough spell so they’ll always have my respect…but it’s that old adage that we can go 3-29 with or without player X…

Jeff Goodman just tweeted that we're picking up Fardaws Aimaq from Texas Tech, one of the best players in the portal. It's working guys!

Played for Utah Valley (actually transferred from Mercer) so makes sense. Would he have to sit a year? I can't keep track of the rules.

Believe he’s a grad transfer.

He's 24 and 6'11. Being 24 I'd guess he's picked up the credits to graduate by now. This would be a solid get to replace Lars, and his stats are better. Interesting that Madsen emphasized bigs that can RUN. Wants a team that RUNS. Lars didn't seem too quick up and down the court.

Nice!

Can't really predict what this means so I'll say I wish them well and I hope Madsen makes good use of his scholarship flexibility.

New starting five save for Newell?

Does Askew still have another year?

Expand full comment

Yes, that's what I understand.

Askew would have to sit if he transferred again this year.

He was OK but reminded me of Don Coleman island or other hero ball type guys.

That’s the extent of the Mark Fox offense…kill clock for 20 seconds, get the ball to Paris Austin/Matt Bradley/Jordan Shepherd/Devon Askew and let them hoist up a low % shot.

Hoping Askew will be better in Madsen’s more efficient O, which prioritizes spacing.
