MacLean just articulated what many of us have been saying for awhile…and why everyone and their mother, save for OskiOfTarth and Bob, have been calling for Fox’s ouster: Fox purposely slows the game down to limit possessions because he does not know how to utilize the strengths of the players he has recruited. He is trying to force the personnel to play his offensive scheme, which is incredibly limited, inefficient and unimaginative. Unfortunately, his team turns the ball over far too much to run such a style. It’s not working…it hasn’t been working…yet he has shown zero ability to adapt. It’s awful coaching.
They should be using the depth of the roster to play faster…but despite nearly 20 years of coaching at the D1 level, evidence suggests Fox does not know how to do this.
That’s actually false, Bob: I was complementary of the team when they shot >60% to beat ‘Furd and CU…I just didn’t think it was sustainable, hardly a complaint.
Team’s about to be 3-21, Bob…there’s nothing much to be happy about, but you go right ahead…get yourself pumped for a 7 minute stretch and throw shade at all of us Firefox people because the boys managed to play competent basketball for a half.
Hardly. You invite disagreement..a true lawyer. I only disagree with you two re: Men’s Basketball, and 1 member over football, but at the end of the day, we all want the same thing…for Cal to be successful. So we have that in common. Forgive me if I think your buddy in the big chair should be accountable for his mistakes.
Never once did I claim tons of coaches got fired this season…not once. I completely acknowledged that it is rare…but I have steadfastly maintained that Fox SHOULD have been terminated this year because he has been historically awful and the Athletic Department needed to show they valued winning.
But you change your demands so often just to fit your narrative that it’s just really tough to keep up. Earlier this year, you asked for instances where a firing has happened IN-season, and when that was provided, you tried to negate it and made excuses for WHY the coach was fired and how that differed from Fox. When I pointed out Will Ryan was just fired at Green Bay, you tried to be contrary and said his record was worse than Fox (3-17 v. 2-19). Now you say the list is short, which I’ve never disputed.
Oh man…I do enjoy our little banter this year, my friend. Go Bears!
No reason for any negativity on Cal basketball. Carol Christ has steered us to the top of the AP ranking on Diversity, Equity and Inclusion!!
That’s not nothing.
Nice play by Newell. Nice night by Alajiki. Okafor looks active.
The new coach is gonna have some pieces…hope these kids stay!

You’re a little late to the party.
Nice game by Alajiki tonight. He’s got skills.
Fox’s primary ball handler, his senior, starting PG, still can’t hit a f-ing FT, after 4 years. It’s pathetic…no wonder this team is 3-20
This gonna get ugly quick
They were all gone when we arrived.
Sorry to hear. That stinks.
Ugh. Shooting not good.
For the first 2,000 fans. Or just show up. You might get 2.
You do love drawing big, sweeping conclusions from small sample sizes…at least you’re consistent, Bob.
BTW, I see a team that’s turning the ball over at an unsustainable clip and is down 14.
Oh, ok Bob.

Meanwhile Cal’s gonna lose by 30.
