Just realized the combined record of men's bb and football is 7-34. Hardly competitive in the revenue sports. Surely after the dead cat bounce we can only go upward next season.

You would guess. But getting better at sports doesn't seem to be at all a priority or care for this athletic department.

St. Mary's / Gonzaga game is getting good. Enjoyed Pacific vs. Portland earlier. Most of the WCC games I've watched this year have been pretty competitive.

Meanwhile, in the Mountain West, Utah State continues to roll…just sayin’.

Even if Knowlton is smart enough to target Odom, there will be stiff competition I suspect. It’s hard to see us having an upper hand on any other program. Root for Utah State to make a quick exit in the tourney.

Agreed. I expect Cal to have some stiff competition for Pasternack, as well, if he’s even legitimately interested.

My only hope is an HC with some upside rather than a guy with a track record for mediocrity at the P5 level….

Yeah, it’s gonna be a tough spot to fill even if Knowlton targets the right candidates. The job is just not as attractive as it was even after Wyking. People complained that Cuonzo left the cupboards bare, but Fox set fire to the whole kitchen. Few, if any, Pac-12 level players on this team and the program no longer has any recruiting profile. That’s why someone like the EWU coach is intriguing. He’s a little more under the radar, and those are the guys we need to identify earlier than other programs.

Exactly. Chris Victor at Seattle is another guy I like - Alex Pribble’s his Assoc HC, too, tho he’s likely next in line for the RedHawks.

But I’ll take the young guy with upside any day over a retread in his 50’s that has only shown sporadic and occasional success over extended periods and with large sample sizes.

My guy. The guy who replaced Shantay at EWU is kinda partying while no one is looking.

I bet Oregon State grabs him if they let go of Tinkle. He’s Mike Riley’s nephew.

Ah, that’s royalty in Corvallis. They handed Tink a big check after the miracle Elite 8 run 2 back…wonder if they’ll struggle with the buyout?

Meanwhile, in Berkeley, word is Knowlton still hasn’t made up his mind on Fox, tho it’s trending in that direction, whatever TF that means…checkers, not chess.

You gotta be effing kidding me. God help us. What TF did we do to deserve this?

It’s a mystery. Those were such fun times, too…sweating out Selection Sunday when the team was solid, watching Gumbel reveal the brackets. It just isn’t the same - rings hollow now.

Another day, another loss. However, we should give Fox one more season to turn things around. We are SO close to competing with the big boys!!!!!! And yes; Northern California has the best weed.

Bob R: I agree with you that Pasternack is a good choice. Also, you need to get better at detecting sarcasm. Only someone who has been consistently smoking The Emerald Triangle's finest would ever think that Fox deserves another chance. Hell, I don't think he even deserves to coach his last game in the Pac-12 Tournament! Fire him now and see if the team responds the way Cal Football did after Musgrave was let go. You can't deny that, even with an offense by committee, they played much better and almost beat U$C and FUCLA. What does basketball have to lose? And yes, I know that his buyout probably drops considerably once this painful trainwreck of a season is finally over.

Totally agree, Bob, Pasternack could potentially be a really great fit. I did a little more research into Tim Miles…see a lot of similarities to Mark Fox, which kind of spooks me…thoughts?

IMO, Tim Miles is Mark Fox 2.0.

Meet the new Fox, same as the old Fox type of hire.
