Glad to see a write up as there was nothing here for the game day and I saw on my sports feed that the Bears won on the last second shot. Who else here wishes so desperately that the game was at Haas and we got to see it?
I was disappointed with the Bears' last play. You only need one point to win, so why not shoot from the paint? You can draw a foul and tie or win with some free throws or take an easier shot than a deep three! Plus, you're at home and can expect referees to give you the benefit of the doubt on foul-calling and timing.
USF had collapsed its defense to protect against any short or mid-range shots. Forman moved away from the congestion and had a clean look at that last shot -- it was a much higher percentage shot than something contested or forced in the paint. Fouls in that situation are rarely called -- only if the shooter is mugged.
I got the sense that Matt was trying to get inside and either connect on a short jumper or a possible lay-up, but fortunately he didn't try that (charging foul?) and tossed it to Antecivich, who saw that Foreman was open. Congrats to Makale on the successful shot. Very positive win for the Bears, if we want to be a .500 or better team.
I thought Joel Brown's defense was really critical to disrupting USF after their hot start, particularly in preventing Bouyea from completely taking over. I wonder if Hyder will be able to bring something approaching that same level of defensive play as Brown does, and if not how Fox balances between offense and defense at PG.

Go Bears!!

But boy, am I happy we won in the end.
That wasn't a play, that was run a secondary break and take the first good shot. It was a good shot.

Good points
Yeah, probably as good a look as we could reasonably have expected once Bradley hit a wall of defenders on the drive.
Brought back memories of Midge v NC State.
Dwight Tarwater vs UCLA!
It felt like a product of the missed free throw with limited time on the clock, but definitely not the way you'd script it.

The answer: constant time-outs to do offense for defense subs.
Hockey-style subs. Let's do it.
You don't need to tell everyone you were wrong again. We already saw it the first time.
Yeah it's certainly the best team we have beaten so far and probably at least an NCAA bubble team, if not better.
Then #4 Virginia . . They're NOW #17.
Look, you are able to look up things on the internet.
