He was a good LB but imo very overrated. Wilcox loved him but he never came close to dominating his position and was often out of position/useless and he could not convincingly tackle the big physical RBs. Seems like a great person. Wish him luck.
I feel like we always had a mix of an older MLB who was more steady, and a nuke we'd allow to chase the ball because he was confident that his back was covered.
Uluave / Ferelli felt like a mix of MLB that were both missiles, which meant we were caught with our pants down a lot.
I was really excited when the news broke out last year around this time and then he actually transferred to Cal. You would think a back up at Ohio State would be really good if he actually gets to play. Turns out he wasn't and he lost a QB battle against a true freshman.
In the portal, I want guys who actually played and had success at previous schools. Like DeJesus, Buchanan, Nohl Williams, Sirmon, etc. We've had plenty of guys come from big time schools and never saw the field at Cal. Cardwell, Justin Williams Thomas, Merriweather, Sergio Allen. Grayes. Aidan Keanaaina and David Reese were the exceptions.

He was third on my list of 5 players I would feel bummed if they transferred.
JKS, Cade, Ferrelli, McCuloch, Manutai.
Don't panic. It's a new system with only one MLB that he didn't necessarily fit. Could also mean Cade is coming back.
No panic. Only a JKS loss is worth the panic.
But it nonetheless stinks to lose good young players. Tough to build anything that way.
