Gritty performance by the Cal baseball squad today. In a game that had everything (including Cal scoring the go ahead run late on an overturn; an accurate obstruction call-ruled only after video review showed Jag Burden had no way to access the plate after the final throw during a rundown), Cal pitchers throughout were lights out when it mattered. Tempers really flared in the eighth inning. Cal’s third base coach was tossed arguing that Burden should have been ruled safe (see above rundown). But without another pitch being thrown and, after many minutes of discussion and going to video, the call at home plate was overturned in Cal’s favor. Then, the Cougars’ head coach threw a fit and was tossed as well. Up to this point the game was nip and tuck the whole way. WSU pitchers started plunking Bears batters liberally the next inning (and a couple of the plunked showed a bit of anger at this) and Cal made the Cougs pay, scoring 10 runs in the top of the ninth! A thoroughly enjoyable win surrounded by a hostile, vocal crowd whose taunts I could hear through my television. Thank you, PAC-12 Network. Good coverage.

My daughter has 10 bids to the frats, so I'm thinking she's not going make any of these home games. :-0
