Cal vs. Stanford Cardinal Football Insta-Recap & Rate the Game: Bears Keep the Axe, Win 27-15
California star running back Jaydn Ott had a game-high 166 rushing yards
The Stanford Axe will stay in Berkeley, Calif., for another year.
The California Golden Bears (5-6, 3-5 Pac-12) defeated the Stanford Cardinal (3-8, 2-7 Pac-12), 27-15, in a convincing Saturday evening victory.
The Cardinal played with two left feet for much of the 126th Big Game, racking up nine penalties for 88 yards and managing only one touchdown in the second half of the game.
California quarterback Fernando Mendoza earned his first Big Game victory, behind 294 yards thrown, three passing touchdowns and one interception. But the real star of the game might be Golden Bear star running back Jaydn Ott, who racked up a game-high 166 rushing yards and one touchdown holding the rock.
Ott’s performance against Stanford is his seventh game with more than 100 rushing yards and his fifth in the 2023 season.
Rushing the field with everyone was a blast. Love this tradition
I’d entertain the argument for the OttTrond Co-Players of the Game. Huge game for the two of them, and Cal keeps the Axe!
