Very different for most of us. Shortest conference road trip, aside from every other year to ‘Furd, will be Dallas. Every other one will be in the 2600-2800 mile range (one-way!). Can’t afford it. And, it’s gonna be a bummer for the parents (and students). But maybe Cal starts to recruit heavily in the southeast now.
Who knows...if we still can't get Notre Dame to join when the power conferences decrease their number of nonconference football games, perhaps San Diego St. gets a call from the ACC as well.
I have affinity for SDSU as my nephew played DE there. Really wanted to see them make the jump to P5. Would love to see their school give some additional competition to the SoCal backstabbers.
I think SDSU would be a smart move sooner than later, but I would think that you either go for a big west coast grab to create a pod/division...while somewhere in between would just ruffle the feathers of the pre-existing ACC members who would then actually have to travel more. Three schools is just a stop gap to put more money in the hands of the disgruntled; a much more aggressive play would be required to assure long-term survival.
I'm willing to bet SDSU and other Mountain West teams (or OSU and WSU) would jump at a deal somewhere between what SMU has and what you have to join the ACC. Perhaps SDSU, OSU, and WSU are the eventual answer, although I wouldn't rule out Tulane as a travel partner for SMU. If Coach Prime stays in Colorado long enough (or they want to entice him to stay long-term), maybe Colorado eventually bolts if the ACC looks clearly superior to the Big XII at that point.
Same boat my man. Ecstatic. Born and raised in Berkeley, Cal '98, now in Florida.

I hear you man. Can't argue that .
Above all, I'm just deeply relieved that we weren't relegated.
Relegation was a death sentence.
This buys some time.
