And I think the preexisting conference networks were part of the reason DirecTV passed. They were already stretched out and did not think the viewership warranted the price (and they were correct).

Great point. And DirecTV also had a major issue with the P12 giving ESPN/FOX first priority over marquee games. Why pay the exorbitant price Larry was demanding for the P12N when the P12N didn’t even place its best games on their own network? No reason to pay all that money for the 3rd, 4th, 5th and 6th best matchups that week, especially when you already offer the channels that the 1st and 2nd options were already on!

That's true... the root of the P12 issues and woes, and ultimately downfall, are due to the arrogance of the P12 schools' leadership. They far over estimated the actual demand for P12 sports and Larry the wolf was able to sell a hugely faulty vision that fed into the P12 schools leadership's arrogance.

So much blame to go around, but it all starts with our universities' leadership (e.g., Cal is the perfect example). We get what we deserve... I guess.

It’s just so painful to experience. The recency bias is killing us. This is an entirely different situation if the revenue sports were more competitive.
