Cal vs. UC Davis Insta-Recap & Rate the Game: Golden Bears Start the Season with a Win
Cal keeps its perfect record against UC Davis
The California Golden Bears (1-0) opened the 2022 college football season with a 34-13 win against the UC Davis Aggies (0-1).
The victory Saturday is California's 11th against its northern California sister university. The Golden Bears have not lost a single game in the series.
All eyes were on quarterback Jack Plummer, a transfer from Purdue who played his first game, who felt the first-game jitters early on.
The quarterback ended the afternoon with 268 passing yards and three touchdowns thrown, despite a poor first quarter, which included two three-and-out drives that allowed UC Davis to score first and an unlucky interception.
Plummer's fortune turned around in the second quarter, where he threw two touchdowns, including one to true freshman running back Jaydn Ott.
Ott was a workhorse for the Golden Bears against the Aggies. In his first game, he put up 104 rushing yards on 17 rush attempts and pulled in 26 receiving yards on two touches.

That was fun, the ugly first quarter notwithstanding. Plummer looked solid and Ott was terrific. Defense bent but didn't break. Attendance was as expected. Glad I was in the shade. Feeling hopeful (I know, dangerous for a Cal fan to do).
Jadyn Ott went to bed last night and thought "Is the game really this easy?"
