Followed the score….only fired up the tv just when that key three pointer was made to seal it.

Please watch from opening tip for rest of the season….;-)

Need to go back to playing smarter.

Stanfurdstinks's avatar

I guess we know the value of Pippen... Did anybody catch why he was out?

AKBear's avatar

His back was wrapped but he looked good on the bench.

Jimmy Chitwood's avatar

Injury - not expected to be serious but….

ShanghaiDave93's avatar

Well that was close. Next phase of our development is to learn to stomp losing teams early.

Jimmy Chitwood's avatar

Exactly. These slow 1H starts are going to result in double-digit deficits v. ACC clubs.

Like at KState.

Rytis and Justin not available being the difference between going life and death with northwestern state vs. a W against UCLA is pretty funny. Hope the team figures out a way to start games stronger because they're so much better in the second half compared to the first half almost every game.

Phew

Ugly W but you take it.

Jimmy Chitwood's avatar

Chris Bell disappearing act is concerning.

Big Dog's avatar

A Big who can shoot FT's. Has the ghost of Pete Newell been helping out at practice?

Jimmy Chitwood's avatar

The ability to hit FTs is huge, Big Dog.

Jimmy Chitwood's avatar

NOICE!

This roster showed me something today.

Salt this away.

BerkeleyBear's avatar

i have had no clue all year why dajuan campbell is playing? he is hurting the team on both sides of the floor all year long. anyone? what am i missing?

Big Dog's avatar

Zero points in 14 minutes not working for ya?

BerkeleyBear's avatar

not particularly

This is not a one-off either. Not everyone can make the leap from Western Carolina to the ACC.

He was one of the most inefficient P4 players in the nation last year, and for all the talk about his D, he struggles to defend, especially at the point of attack. The offense comes to a halt when he gets the ball, as well.

He should be nothing more than a 7-9 mpg guy off the bench if this team has any hopes of making the postseason. Hopefully when Pippen and Rytis return that’s his role because he actively hurts the club at both ends...the Ruff RS is very unfortunate.

BerkeleyBear's avatar

I don't want to pick on the guy but if the team's fully healthy the rotation as I see it is

Start

Ames

Pippen

Camden

Dort

Bell or Carr

Bench

Bell or Carr

Petraitis

Ilic

Dorsey

If one of the above is out then maybe him but don't they have anyone else on the roster with upside? Yeanay, etc.?

Jimmy Chitwood's avatar

And that rotation would be pretty solid…guess Kocanas and Dut must really be developmental bigs.

Sammie has upside, but based on the production at Grand Canyon, plus coming off the injury which makes development hard, he may be a 2026 stash as well…anything this year would be nice.

Encouraged by Dorsey today.

Also don’t mean to pick on the guy, but the film is the film.

AKBear's avatar

He can make a difference as a defensive stopper.

Jimmy Chitwood's avatar

The metrics say otherwise, actually. And he can’t defend guards.

Jimmy Chitwood's avatar

Dejuan Campbell rofl

AKBear's avatar

Campbell won’t pull up for a midrange jumper. Over-drives and loses the ball. Seems like he’s regressed from last season. Hope that he gets it together.

Jimmy Chitwood's avatar

He lacks the athleticism to create his own shot.

AKBear's avatar

I think he’s athletic enough. It’s being able to dissect what’s happening in the court and having a plan when he engages. When he drives - know where all teammates are. Could kick out sometimes but has his head down and is just driving without a plan. It just seems like a lot of wasted energy.

AKBear's avatar

You can’t have a line-up with Dorsey and Campbelll with a freshman point guard. That line-up needs more work.

Jimmy Chitwood's avatar

With Pippen and Rytis out, and Bell giving you nothing, they don’t have much choice.

AKBear's avatar

No, you just leave 2 and 7 on the floor in this game. Have to get the W. Giving people playing has to go.

Jimmy Chitwood's avatar

Survive and advance.

Chris Bell showing ‘24 Syracuse form.

Gonna get you beat today.

BerkeleyBear's avatar

TT carr is proving he is one of the best players on the team period. They need to give him more minutes off the bench or make him a starter.

Jimmy Chitwood's avatar

Cal’s Tournament chances are in serious jeopardy.
