I see this having a great chance of veering into Holmoe territory. You may recall that he was also a defensive coach with no head coach experience. Like this team, only the defense was good. They had a good QB in Boller that they couldn’t do anything with like this team and JKS.
Last weekend, every upcoming opponent for Cal won. It is going to be very difficult to get anything out of this season.
Trying to run an overly complicated offense was the downfall of the Tedford regime. It was ok when he had Rodgers, one of the greatest and smartest QBs ever, but when you have injuries or are trying to plug in a transfer and you need to rely on guys that haven’t been studying your playbook for years, it quickly falls apart.
I fully agree with every last word -- I care too. I went to Big Game when we were 0-10 and Deltha O'Neal was the only reason to attend. I went to the Big Game when we stopped the 2-point conversion and then, with help from the refs, invented a new way to lose, and I stayed at the Cal-Oregon game when we came back from being down 30. All of the pain, all of the heartache, and the small moments of unfettered joy mixed in. My comment is merely self-protective.
Deltha O’Neal- one of the few bright parts of the bad old days. I took the Big Game Train down to the Farm for the 1999 game. He touched the ball twice, a kickoff and an interception, and scored both times. Cal did absolutely nothing else in the game.
I fear that Kingston Lopa may be the Deltha of this era: an amazing bright spot in a dark era.
