so many dumb penalties

TezCalipoca's avatar

Come on, Bears! More smart penalties

Rick Chen's avatar

let's play some boring, clean football

Wiata78's avatar

Yep, penalties are killing us

Dominick Damiani's avatar

Just to let everyone know. That the other Cal football team ⚽ beat #1 Pitt Panthers in the country 1-NIL as they say in soccer last night, for CAL's first win in the ACC. Now it is time for the other football 🏈 team to do the same this afternoon.

GO BEARS!!!!!!!

Macarolina's avatar

Looks like MSOC were in an all white kit as well- setting a good winning trend!

AndyPanda's avatar

I wasn't aware NIL is that big a factor in NCAA soccer.

Wiata78's avatar

LOL!

TIL that NIL has been a thing in soccer for a long time.

Rick Chen's avatar

the takers!

Rick Chen's avatar

wth is up with these personal fouls

Wiata78's avatar

Yeah, so many face mask calls already

Rick Chen's avatar

scary stuff. pitt players dropping like flies this quarter

Bowlesman 80's avatar

Sorry. Apart from permanent harm- NO QUARTER!

Maestro's avatar

Must feel nice having that luxury for long FGs

Maestro's avatar

He didn't have the Vans

cheeksbossman's avatar

Our o line is garbage

Jimmy Chitwood's avatar

Not crisp.

This is how your HC is 21-39 in conference.

Oski Disciple's avatar

This is the Cal footballiest Cal football season yet.

Rick Chen's avatar

good start, defense!!

GoldenSD81's avatar

If you need 1 yard, our running game will get you 1 yard. If you need 2 yards, our running game will get you 1 yard.

Maestro's avatar

harsh. but true.

Cleancutmedia's avatar

but if you need 15 yards!.... our running game will get you 1 yard.

CalBear’19's avatar

No discipline.

KJ1980's avatar

Just my thought

Bowlbasaur's avatar

Awesome drive and then the coaches give away a point, wtf

Rick Chen's avatar

head-scratching decision-making

AKBear's avatar

Just play regular sound football. Giving away any point is not good.

PCWT's avatar

we do... maybe that's why our coach has a .465 career record as HC

Jimmy Chitwood's avatar

18 games below .500 v conference foes.

PCWT's avatar

I like the aggression and different look

C Bass's avatar

Well I’m back. I moved to CO last year but happened to be back in town for both GameDay and the game. What a day. Took me a few days to recover(PawlOski!!), but excited about another BIG GAME!!

This is our 3rd program changing game in a row. So far, we are 0-2. However, I must say, l have a “ good feeling”(Bowlesman 80!!) about today’s game. Let’s flip the script today…Go Bears!!

I appreciate the WFC community!

Justbear's avatar

Im sure Wilcox wants to win games more than anyone of us fans. Why is he making decisions that are not going to win him games?

Jimmy Chitwood's avatar

Because he’s not a good head coach. It’s very simple.

He has ZERO feel for the game. He’s formulaic, robotic.

AndyPanda's avatar

Formula would be tokic PATs, kick FG to win, with worst case OT.

CalBear’19's avatar

Because he is incompetent.

GoldenSD81's avatar

Because he isn’t a good HC. He is a coordinator who has proven he isn’t HC material.

Swimmie1's avatar

The scorpion and the frog. It’s his nature.

CalBear’19's avatar

Another screen, who would a thought.

TezCalipoca's avatar

one score game feels like we are down 4 touchdowns for some reason

Bowlbasaur's avatar

The OL is just not good enough to have a consistent offense. Way too many negative plays and too one-dimensional with no inside run game.

GoldenSD81's avatar

Perhaps Wilcox should have hired a dedicated OL coach to help this unit as it has historically struggled under Wilcox.

Maestro's avatar

it really is the root cause of most of the problems

Cleancutmedia's avatar

but if the OL is that bad, why not run wide.. or do quick slants and outs. Why do the exact OL dependent plays like runs down the middle?

enough of the screen passes so close to the line too..

Bearbacker1's avatar

Excellent points...you would think this bozo coach could figure that much out at least. Effing basic reasoning.

Cleancutmedia's avatar

yes let's keep sending backs down the middle. go get that 1 yard.

ak_A_bear's avatar

And getting pulled down from behind.

Cleancutmedia's avatar

play.. action... pls

Calbears93's avatar

Mendoza run option should never be the play call.

Bowlesman 80's avatar

Fuck!

Dominick Damiani's avatar

Penalty what a killer. Don't need to hold to get one yard

GoldenSD81's avatar

Wilcox doesn’t need more time. He doesn’t need more support. He needs to be fired because bringing him back next season won’t change a thing.

Wiata78's avatar

Next game, the opposing team will be favored by one point, but Cal will find a way to lose by 0.5.

AKBear's avatar

Biggest mistakes for season: lack of OL depth and letting kicker from last year get away to UCLA no less. Kickers are too under valued at Cal. Bad PK likely means two losses so far.

Old Bear 71's avatar

Bloescb not capable of both hats.

HaasBear's avatar

We should see if Wilson can just drop kick field goals?

GoldenSD81's avatar

How anyone can defend Wilcox after this? He needs to be fired immediately!!!

7 years in a row now that Wilcox has losing streaks of 3 games in a row!!

Bluehenbear's avatar

Because our AD doesn’t understand the strategic blunders of Wilcox and his staff. Which is why he won’t fire him for this shit

Jimmy Chitwood's avatar

Fire this clown coaching staff

Swimmie1's avatar

This specific loss, 100% on staff.

Swimmie1's avatar

Which f’g idiot went for 2 in Q1?

Jimmy Chitwood's avatar

Playing for a FG with 1:40 left and a team that can hit it from 60?

This is inexcusable

GoldenSD81's avatar

Seriously! I would respect that loser Wilcox if he went for it on 4th down and lost than settle for that FG.

TezCalipoca's avatar

announcer is trying to make the up the middle runs make sense

Bluehenbear's avatar

I mean the defense got two picks on consecutive possessions and offense went three and out both times. Pathetic

Cleancutmedia's avatar

finally. yes keep throwing.

heck just keep throwing to endries.

Cleancutmedia's avatar

there is a pattern here...

throw --> yards... he is 18/21

run --> 1 yard.

Old Bear 71's avatar

Cal’s good D sure has Pitt bottle up *cough*

Jimmy Chitwood's avatar

This coaching staff is incompetent.

GoldenSD81's avatar

The decision making today is strange. Going for 2, punting on 4th and 1, QB rotation on this drive…

Bearbacker1's avatar

These are the normal assinine coaching mistakes we've seen over the last 7 seasons with this loser Wilcox

Jimmy Chitwood's avatar

The illegal substitution so you can’t even go for it on 4th & 1…

Jimmy Chitwood's avatar

It’s like they’re a couple of kids playing on PS4.

GoldenSD81's avatar

Wilcox is coaching like a guy who knows he won’t be fired anytime soon.

Jimmy Chitwood's avatar

Honestly I don’t think he knows any other way.

Mark Sigmon's avatar

So we've tried getting way ahead and losing late. Maybe we can try to get down and come back and win.

Gobears512's avatar

Something new and fresh for us!

WilderThanGene's avatar

I'm starting to feel demoralized

TezCalipoca's avatar

ditto. on the whole season

WilderThanGene's avatar

On the bright side we've got a good punter

Rick Chen's avatar

he gets a lot of practice

ak_A_bear's avatar

why me/us, etc. etc.

Jimmy Chitwood's avatar

Because we are poorly coached.

Dominick Damiani's avatar

Great play from Pitt

BearlyThere's avatar

Playing to make a statement. Bold. Let’s keep it going!

AndyPanda's avatar

And the statement would be? "I'm an idiot!"?

PCWT's avatar

We want our first ACC win - let's take it!

Mateo's avatar

Why?

Dominick Damiani's avatar

What was that?? Do u really need to for 2 now

KetamineCal's avatar

💨✈️

CalGal2004's avatar

Woo Hoo! TD JET! Go Bears! 🐻

KJ1980's avatar

The Bear never quits! The Bear never dies!

Calbears93's avatar

I will never stop loving my bears. However, the coaching gaffs in this game are beyond reproach. I genuinely like Wilcox…but enough…

cheeksbossman's avatar

Our kicker should never step foot on the field again. I do feel for the kid but he’s clearly in over his head.
