See y'all at the Bowl Game.

The regular season ended with a whimper though.

Expand full comment

We beat Furd.

Expand full comment

California's six wins came against five teams that finished below .500 and an FCS school. The Bears were 0-4 against teams with winning records and 0-1 against teams that finished at .500. Pretty much tells you where we're at as a program.

Expand full comment

That's how the rest of them do it outside the PAC-10. That's where a lot of those 6-6 "we go bowling every year" programs are when they're playing 8 conference games lol. No harm in taking advantage of it and getting the roster more practice time for whatever happens next year.

According to the Stanford color announcer today all we had to do is match the 100M that SMU wealthy alums dumped into NIL as soon as they were admitted into ACC. Funny coming from a Stanford alum. Don’t know the end game but NIL has obliterated the idea of college/amateur athletics. Leave it to the federal courts to screw it all up. Cal will only fall further and further behind the chains (so to speak). Even MLB and other pro sports have speed governors built in to the system.

Expand full comment

And, lastly, the ACC color announcer who played at Stanford was terrible all game. He clearly had not recovered from the Big Game loss.

Expand full comment

Nando should have played. No NFL QB would have allowed himself to be sat down because of the flu.

Expand full comment

Yeah no NFL QB would have, but Nando is a college sophomore.

Expand full comment

It isn’t that serious, we weren’t winning today with Nando.

Expand full comment

SMU has zero class. Glad they got the death penalty for 40yrs.

Expand full comment

They’re the U$C Texas version. Miami is the U$C of the south. No one to root for.

Expand full comment

Not the season we wanted…again…but I look forward to watching the bowl game regardless!

Expand full comment

In typical Wilcox fashion, he did the very bare minimum.

Tedford is 10-2 with this roster.

Expand full comment

Pappy Waldorf 11-1 and Andy Smith 12-0.

Expand full comment

Holmoe 3-9.

Expand full comment

you're forgetting Tedford's desultory final few years

Expand full comment

Not forgetting anything.

Tedford was a competent head coach. This roster had talent…with this schedule, a competent coaching staff wins plenty of games.

Expand full comment

I wonder if Nando had been in it would have made a difference. Our QB play was laughable. All blame on coaching. Blow-esh blows

Expand full comment

yeah, who knows. It's been such a strange season.

Expand full comment

Miami lost!!!

Expand full comment

LA Bowl?

Expand full comment

I got a flight and booked a room at the La Quinta Inn LAX on W. Century Blvd…

The Sun Bowl is gonna be tougher to hit…

Expand full comment

Juice Box Bowl

Expand full comment

500!!

Expand full comment

It took 2OTs for us to do it but we did it!

Expand full comment

Recruit depth!

Expand full comment

Thanks for setting this up for last time this regular season.

Expand full comment

Need one unimportant silver lining item!

Expand full comment

We’re 1 loss closer to a Wilcox-less Cal football program…

Expand full comment

Coe made both his field goals. No one has hung 40 on us this season.

Expand full comment

Maybe we could do it. Six more comments!

Expand full comment

Down goes Miami. We should have been the ones to expose them but Cuse finally did it.

Expand full comment

They really were pretenders. The game against Cal should’ve been a loss anyway.

Expand full comment

Cuse's offensive line is good enough to sustain drives. Ours isn't.

Expand full comment

Wilcox has been a good DC in the past.

Expand full comment

Good, not great though.

Expand full comment

Gus left UCF for a OC position. Maybe Wilcox will do the same for a DC position

Expand full comment

See everyone at the “bowl game” yay

Expand full comment

LA Bowl?

Expand full comment

We need the 6 extra weeks of practice.

Expand full comment

And to get healthy!!

Expand full comment

Just came up short. Just like Cal often.

Expand full comment

I was worried we were going to lay an egg and we did

Expand full comment

Almost 500 comments.

Expand full comment

Almost a winning season

Expand full comment

Are. We still allowed to enjoy $c’s misery

Expand full comment

Yes!!!!

Expand full comment

Forever will enjoy their losing.

Expand full comment

Big Time and Always

Expand full comment

Definitrly

Expand full comment

Byron Cardwell?

Expand full comment

Is he still on the team?

Expand full comment

Just ran it

Expand full comment

Didn’t work out

Expand full comment

I don’t care if Knowlton is still the AD. You fire Wilcox and put Knowlton in the corner while you form a committee to hire the next Cal HC. It worked out well with men’s basketball.

Expand full comment

#Calgorithm can do it!!

Expand full comment

I would trust the Calgorithm to make the right hire. It did get Game Day to come to Cal.

Expand full comment

Need a strong AD to lead the whole sports dept. Can't keep going with this gross incompetence and negligence. Lyons needs to raise $$$ and hire a dynamic modern AD to fully unleash the potential at Cal. We are the sleeping giant. Let's get the folks in here to wake up the beast.

Expand full comment

Show me the money

Expand full comment

Take a couple of Calimony checks and turn them into Wilcoximony

Expand full comment

We'll start a go fund me page.

Expand full comment

Ryan Yaites and Khamani Hudson torched in the end zone

Expand full comment

We are getting closer to 500 comments. Go Bears!

Expand full comment

Imagine this:

Big 10 champ - Oregon

Big 12 champ - Colorado or ASU

ACC champ - SMU

All former Pac 12 or new conference members.

Expand full comment

All cuz of some 6-6 or worse teams in Los Angeles having a hissy fit

Expand full comment

Let’s run it up the middle

Expand full comment

Why the hell are they throwing deep when they're up 25 in the last few minutes?

Expand full comment

Classless bastards are pouring it on.

Expand full comment

I don’t blame them at all. If Wilcox and Sirmon were any good at coaching defense, they would be able to stop it.

Expand full comment

IF

Expand full comment

Style points for playoff bid.

Expand full comment

If I'm the committee I punish them for cheap shit like that.

Expand full comment

Wrong. If Wilcox had this philosophy we would have won more 1 score games than we have lost. I agree, play the game till the end, if you step on a neck or two along the way, welp that is the game too bad if you don't like it.

Expand full comment

It's the opposite. They will be rewarded

Expand full comment

That gets rewarded and if Wilcox were an actual good defensive coach he should be able to stop it.

Expand full comment

Playing for the CFP. Pouring it on.

Expand full comment

Cal will not beat the spread.

Expand full comment

Well, shit

Expand full comment

Jesus, both SMU QBs can throw.

Expand full comment

Great how cal has capitalized on 17 SMU penalties.

Expand full comment

Would love to see Miami lose.

Expand full comment

Do what we could not!

Expand full comment

We showed that we can lose to Syracuse too.

Expand full comment

Anything to stick it to ACC.

Expand full comment

Ummm, block in the back on smu?

Expand full comment

Time to cheer for basketball Bears. Attendance has been poor. Need to turn out for them.

Expand full comment

Such an interesting roster if we get to full strength and Wilkinson keeps up his heater…

Expand full comment

So many negative plays it’s no wonder this offense struggles. Have to take those plays out of the book.

Expand full comment

It’s so clear how little Mike Bloesch actually knows about coaching offense and calling plays.

Expand full comment

They were in there at the start of the season. So, it’s on the coaches.

Expand full comment

That INT was pure inexperience

Expand full comment

Can we throw beyond the line of scrimmage?

Expand full comment

Narrator: No, no they cannot

Expand full comment

14 negative plays

Expand full comment

What’s the record for most comments?

Expand full comment

This season or all time?

Expand full comment

As much as I like Cal football, I can't say that it's very wise for the institution to make much of an investment.

Expand full comment

Disagree…I need them for sure. There is always hope.

Expand full comment

Blowout

Expand full comment

I like what Mike Pawlawski has to say on radio. Could he have a role on coaching staff?

Expand full comment

I’ve wondered that too. Maybe he’s happy doing what he’s doing. I did hear Wilcox say he talks to Pawlowski.

Expand full comment

Mike has a weekly interview with Wilcox. It is the most in-depth Wilcox ever gets in ANY interview and his only interviews worth listening to. My only comment is that Mike is a little too easy on Wilcox, albeit he is more pressing than most ~ if not all ~ the beat writers.

Expand full comment

Wilcox will continue to get a pass until the fanbase demands better.

Expand full comment

That’s why he will be back in 2026.

Expand full comment

I think if he wanted to coach he would have done so by now. I believe he’s done personal coaching.

Expand full comment

Yes, he does coach/mentor players in high school.

Expand full comment

Did you guys know that the SMU Mustangs are also the National Team of Thailand for American Football? Wearing their flag proudly on their shoulders. Good job!

Expand full comment

It's because one night in Bangkok and the tough guys tumble.

Expand full comment

Hey, the world’s your oyster, KC!!

Expand full comment

Now it’s reall over

Expand full comment

Whatever the scheme was supposed to be on that play, it didn't work.

Expand full comment

Good game guys. Time to look for better things to do…

Expand full comment

Early dinner. Time to start cooking.

Expand full comment

That’s the cleanest interception I saw this season.

Expand full comment

13 negative plays for Cal. That’s really unacceptable.

Expand full comment

13 negative plays......and counting!

Expand full comment

Decision making.
