The season opener of Cal vs. UCLA is attracting massive fanfare online, as a new era dawns for the California Golden Bears football program. There is a massive push to get a sell-out in Strawberry Canyon. There are indications that the student section has sold out their allottment of passes, and only a few tickets remain.
Cal Twitter has had one long-term goal: Remove the tarps in the South End Zone that have been utilized to battle low attendance numbers.
Mission accomplished. Cal head coach Tosh Lupoi did it himself.
As you can see from the tweets in this video, the Calgorithm continues to find motion, three years after its public debut.

The tarps were a symptom not a cause. I see this as the natural progression of the return to relevance of Cal football. Crisis ---> Lyons --> Rivera --> Tosh --> High football standards --> Recruits --> Culture --> Expectations and Tosh gets on the socials and says EVERYBODY needs to get to Memorial on Sep 5. Now EVERYBODY will be at Memorial on Sep 5. There was no room left for tarps.
Good leadership knows how to manipulate symbols for effect. The tarps were that symbol.
