I've been saying this after SDSU game. If we are not firing Wilcox, at least get all the wins and enjoy the season and still hope Rivera finds a new coach in the off season.
It's kind of weird. Cal just registered a win, moved to 5-2 and yet, we're not improving. This team doesn't play good ball and makes critical, stupid errors. The flag for unsportsmanlike on what should have been a defensive stop is an example of what I'm talking about. We do good then we shoot ourselves in the foot.
I will give Wilcox this, though: he lit into the player who was flagged, presumably for the dumb penalty. Nonetheless, it took a bigger play later to preserve the lead and still we couldn't get the critical first down that would allow us to run out the clock.
And against a bad team. That's why we need a change in coaching staff. We don't learn from our mistakes, we don't get better, and we don't finish games.
Why did most Cal fans give up on a game the Bears were winning, and abandon the stadium? I thought getting wins, and celebrating them, was the most important thing to Oski disciples.
I'm definitely used to seeing fans bail down 4 scores. Or try to get ahead of traffic up 4 scores. But its not sarcastic to ask why ANYONE would leave a close game your winning. Isn't that what one comes for in the first place?
Bad football is bad. Sometimes the torture just isn't worth it, even if the result is a W. The effort tonight was poor... by both teams. Why would anyone want to stick around for the desultory end to a crappy game?

If Rivera is as serious about Cal as we think he is Wilcox just assured he will lose his job at the end of the year. Can't have a game like this against such a bad team for the millionth time

Va Tech is also horrid but don’t see them handing us the game like BC and UNC did, especially in Blacksburg off a BYE.
