wilcox says jackson sirmon is out for the season

Good thing he has had 7 seasons to recruit and coach up the depth needed to replace him.

Mendoza three turnovers in two games yea completion % is 8points higher but it feels like jackson is getting the short end of the stick Ben Finley got in before him? Seriously?

HaasBear's avatar

Two of those were blindside strip sack where he had no chance and a tipped pass. Hard to fault him for those.

Well we are the BC of the Pac12. It will be interesting when we actually play BC in the ACC.

Expand full comment
Jimmy Chitwood's avatar

It’s really our only chance.

I mean, maybe next year they squeeze 6 wins and a bowl out of the mediocre ACC…only FSU/Clemson/ND and probably @ Miami are likely sure losses, and we probably only get 2 of those.

2-1 in non-Con, plus that TBD 4th game…roadies at NCSU/BC/Wake/UNC without Drake Maye/Pitt/Duke/UVA/Va Tech/‘Cuse/SMU/PITT are all winnable on paper, even for Wilcox…

I know Billionaire’s don’t operate this way but man I’d love a rich alum to say, “Heres a check to the athletic department for 200 million but I need the President’s, the AD’s and Wilcoxs resignation as soon as the season is over”

Expand full comment
deehart's avatar

Why Finley and not Jackson?

Expand full comment
Justbear's avatar

Because we had to pass on every play.

Too bad Finley didn't know the playbook. He threw to the back of all of his receivers

Expand full comment
Old Bear 71's avatar

Does it matter?

Expand full comment
deehart's avatar

No, but it seems that Jackson at least has a higher ceiling because of his speed and you may as well give the reps to him.

Expand full comment
GoldenSD81's avatar

We actually paid good NIL money for Jackson to not even play him. Pathetic

Expand full comment
Jimmy Chitwood's avatar

If Wilcox had any imagination you move him to WR for some limited packages. His speed is electric - get him on the field with the ball in his hands.

He’s in trouble because the NCAA is not approving many waivers and he’s transferred once. IF he wants to play QB, it’s probably not gonna be P5 and he’s likely gonna have to sit a year.

Expand full comment
deehart's avatar

I'm not sure how that works; is NIL money to him a one time deal, or is there a commitment to pay Jackson next year as well?

I can't see the game, but Utah came in averaging 144 yards rushing per game and 3.4 yards per rush. We let them get 317 yards at 6.0 per rush which is beyond terrible.
