wilcox says jackson sirmon is out for the season

GoldenSD81's avatar

Good thing he has had 7 seasons to recruit and coach up the depth needed to replace him.

TD_24's avatar

i laughed too hard, at least KEO and Uluave look good

NoonNoLast's avatar

Mendoza three turnovers in two games yea completion % is 8points higher but it feels like jackson is getting the short end of the stick Ben Finley got in before him? Seriously?

HaasBear's avatar

Two of those were blindside strip sack where he had no chance and a tipped pass. Hard to fault him for those.

Justbear's avatar

Oregon might pull off an upset

GoldenSD81's avatar

Well we are the BC of the Pac12. It will be interesting when we actually play BC in the ACC.

Oski Disciple's avatar

They'll have to bring back tie games for this one.

Bowlesman 80's avatar

We have the talent, but we're outcoached.

GoldenSD81's avatar

Wilcox is the 6th best coach……in the MWC.

Jimmy Chitwood's avatar

He’s the clear 12th best in the P12.

Oski Disciple's avatar

On to next week. Beat bye!

Justbear's avatar

What's the spread for the bye week?

KJ1980's avatar

We are underdogs

Oski Disciple's avatar

I know, I know, Wilcox will find a lose during our bye week....

Jimmy Chitwood's avatar

They may not lose but they’ll definitely be unprepared for it.

Bowlesman 80's avatar

It will be a moral victory, in any case.

deehart's avatar

Well, bad news for those of you who took the 19 points and bet on Cal.

bearacious's avatar

Always watch not sure why--attempted purge

deehart's avatar

I'm starting to think that Utah might win.

Rick Chen's avatar

lucky guess

TezCalipoca's avatar

Why are Finley's throws so hard to catch?

Archon79's avatar

Cal billionaires, please save us.

Jimmy Chitwood's avatar

It’s really our only chance.

I mean, maybe next year they squeeze 6 wins and a bowl out of the mediocre ACC…only FSU/Clemson/ND and probably @ Miami are likely sure losses, and we probably only get 2 of those.

2-1 in non-Con, plus that TBD 4th game…roadies at NCSU/BC/Wake/UNC without Drake Maye/Pitt/Duke/UVA/Va Tech/‘Cuse/SMU/PITT are all winnable on paper, even for Wilcox…

KetamineCal's avatar

Sorry, Bankman-Fried stole all their money.

deehart's avatar

Really, if you had a billion, is that what you would choose to do with it?

Archon79's avatar

I know Billionaire’s don’t operate this way but man I’d love a rich alum to say, “Heres a check to the athletic department for 200 million but I need the President’s, the AD’s and Wilcoxs resignation as soon as the season is over”

deehart's avatar

Why Finley and not Jackson?

Justbear's avatar

Because we had to pass on every play.

Too bad Finley didn't know the playbook. He threw to the back of all of his receivers

Old Bear 71's avatar

Does it matter?

deehart's avatar

No, but it seems that Jackson at least has a higher ceiling because of his speed and you may as well give the reps to him.

GoldenSD81's avatar

We actually paid good NIL money for Jackson to not even play him. Pathetic

Jimmy Chitwood's avatar

If Wilcox had any imagination you move him to WR for some limited packages. His speed is electric - get him on the field with the ball in his hands.

He’s in trouble because the NCAA is not approving many waivers and he’s transferred once. IF he wants to play QB, it’s probably not gonna be P5 and he’s likely gonna have to sit a year.

deehart's avatar

I'm not sure how that works; is NIL money to him a one time deal, or is there a commitment to pay Jackson next year as well?

bearacious's avatar

“Run the offense”

Bowlesman 80's avatar

Justin WIlcox, please fall on your sword.

Archon79's avatar

3+ million a year? They will have to remove Wilcox kicking and screaming.

Jimmy Chitwood's avatar

Wilcox doesn’t show that type of emotion.

He makes Gabe Kapler look like a coked-up grandmother having a conniption fit.

Winebear's avatar

Has pen and notepad on sideline.. working on resume??

bearacious's avatar

I can watch a lot and I am out. Hung for a while.

Winebear's avatar

First time in 30+ years I didn’t get season tix… but I feel I’m getting my money’s worth!

Rugbear's avatar

Going to the UW/Oregon game. Bye all.

Old Bear 71's avatar

Well, my nachos and ice cream were good.

Old Bear 71's avatar

T Davis needs hard to catch balls thrown to him.

Justbear's avatar

Our OL is terrible. Finley is terrible. Every WR not named Hunter is terrible. And that's just the offense.

sacman701's avatar

I can't see the game, but Utah came in averaging 144 yards rushing per game and 3.4 yards per rush. We let them get 317 yards at 6.0 per rush which is beyond terrible.

Archon79's avatar

Starting Finley against Washington is still inexplicable to me.

Jimmy Chitwood's avatar

Wilcox continues to absolutely mismanage his roster.

Based on what we’ve seen from Mendoza, it’s inexcusable for him to not have seen legitimate game action until week 6.

KetamineCal's avatar

"Oh no! We suck again!"

CalPete's avatar

Someone make a damn catch

Winebear's avatar

I meant no offense to Pop Warner teams..

Lapachet’75's avatar

Would be nice to not depend on the other team making a mistake to win games.

Jimmy Chitwood's avatar

That’s always been Wilcox’s only real path to victory. And we’re in year 7.

Justbear's avatar

Refs trying to help us. Let's get something done. Come on Finley

PCWT's avatar

I think it's Utah's defense that's getting a little over their skis...

PCWT's avatar

these Utah fans are pathetic

Bowlesman 80's avatar

Very emo and homeric.

OldSoCalBear's avatar

Utah fans are stupid. Why boo obviously penalties?

bearspot's avatar

<shudder> Finley's leg.

PCWT's avatar

alright fellas, I think it's about that time... no NANDO is starting to look like no hope...

Archon79's avatar

I’d be surprised if you see him on the field again in a Cal uniform

PCWT's avatar

makes sense - he'll transfer so he doesn't want to 1) get hurt or 2) lose another year of eligibility (if that's the case)

Bowlesman 80's avatar

So, how about that Oregon/ Washington game, huh?

Winebear's avatar

It’s turning Pop Warner..

Old Bear 71's avatar

Garbage yards mean zip vs “prevent” defense

GoldenSD81's avatar

Please, get rid of Wilcox. The only place Wilcox will be taking this program is to the MWC.

Old Bear 71's avatar

Cal screen complete for No Yards!

PCWT's avatar

Lincoln Kennedy can go pound rocks

Rugbear's avatar

I've been a Wilcox supporter but I am ready for a new HC and staff. I like what Spav has done, but everyone else should be replaced.

GoldenHairs's avatar

Can we fire Sirmon but keep is son

HaasBear's avatar

He’s a senior….

bearacious's avatar

That was a disgusting play

PCWT's avatar

at least the holmoe teams could stop the other team!

deehart's avatar

Wilcox to hire Mark Fox to coach special teams and tackling?

Rugbear's avatar

More blown defensive assignments. Fuck.

Jimmy Chitwood's avatar

It can’t be that easy to go 70+ when you know a team is going to run the football.

mrjpark's avatar

We have the team to beat ranked teams. Watching these games has convinced me that we have the talent on our roster. Just our coaches are being outcoached across the board.

PCWT's avatar

the defensive staff owns the last few losses

bearacious's avatar

It is like every year this team hangs tough but doesn’t have the last push/catch in seven ways

Old Bear 71's avatar

No fire, no killer instinct in Wilcox teams. Make Fernando the coach!

PCWT's avatar

the coaching staff can only blame the players for so long... I do not want to hear that there was a blown assignment

Winebear's avatar

I can hear the JW presser already: ‘we had some opportunities but just didn’t.. ‘ yada yada yada
