Cal Football Transfer: Justin Beadles, Defensive Lineman from Louisville
The California Golden Bears have turned their attention to the defensive side of the football this weekend, and picked up several commitments.
Tosh Lupoi has turned attention to the defense in his first full weekeend in Berkeley as Cal head coach, landing five of his six commitments in 24 hours on that side of the ball. Their latest commitment for 2025 is Justin Beadles from the Louisville Cardinals.
Beadles had some nice moments at Louisville as a reserve defensive lineman, playing in all 13 games this season, notching 12 tackles and a tackle for loss. He had his most production at New Mexico State (20 tackles, 4 TFL, 0.5 sack) in 2024. At 6-5, 270 pounds, he adds an important run defender profile that can help with stops. He has one year of eligibility remaining.
Defensive line was one of the positions where Cal needed to get deeper, as the Bears do want to play more down linemen in the Tosh Lupoi era. They have done a good job retaining most of their defensive front, with Derek Wilkins, Nate Burrell and Jayden Wayne announcing their returns. With several departing seniors like Aidan Keanaaina and T.J. Bollers, Cal could use maybe an additional lineman or two to maintain depth continuity.
UPDATE: Turns out they got another! Stay tuned.
Welcome to Cal Justin!

It's interesting how the college journeyman does exist, but isn't the norm like some have feared. Curious what the median number of transfers are now (maybe 1?).
More good news!
