Cal has had some CBs drafted but none stayed in the league the past 10 years. I hope Bynum can be a contributor.

Asomugha, although he may have been 10 years exact.

Looks like he played til 2013. I was thinking no CB since Asomugha. It was unfortunate when Hughes played only a few games in the NFL. He was a superstar in college. I think other CBs drafted were Syd'quan, S. Williams, and Marc Anthony.

The average career for an NFL cornerback is less than 3 years, per https://www.statista.com/statistics/240102/average-player-career-length-in-the-national-football-league/. Ten years is a pretty high bar.

But I'd agree Cal CBs haven't had the NFL success that we've seen with other positions. Not sure if it's coaching, or maybe NFL CBs need athleticism that we've struggled to bring in.

Also FWIW Bynum, like Chris Conte, played CB in college but will be a safety in the NFL.

I meant in the recent 10 years we haven't had a CB in NFL that had a playing time.

Yeah I saw that news too. Looks like another year without Cal CB in NFL.

He was a safety. We've had some successful safeties. Davis, Hawkins, Conte, DeCoud, Giordano

I don't know where your confidence comes from. You always say you are the majority.

I seriously do not understand your logic about cornerback takers and safety takers.

Cornerbacks and safeties (and nickelbacks) are all defensive backs, which is why they are grouped together at times. But that does not mean you can include safety Chris Conte's NFL career when you're strictly talking about Cal *cornerbacks*. (Conte did play CB here, but he was drafted for his performance at S under Pendergast and played S in the League, so it hardly counts).

Think of it like this--Justbear was talking about how much he loves apples and you came in to include oranges because they're all grouped together as fruit. Yes, they all do belong to the same larger grouping, but that does not make them the same in all contexts.

Happy as hell for Cam but was hoping the Niners were going to take him.
