2022 defensive tackle Damonic Williams decommits from Cal
Cal has to deal with another tough decommit at a position of need.
In another tough blow in 2022 recruiting, Cal loses their top defensive tackle commit Damonic Williams on the eve of Early Signing Day.
This one hurts. Williams was Cal’s first commit of the 2022 class and seemed to be lock solid for most of the year.
The late buzz appears to be that Williams will pick an old friend in Sonny Dykes—Williams took an official visit to TCU this past weekend and was offered two days ago.
Cal still has a solid defensive line class, with Nate Burrell, Curlee Thomas and Nunie Tuitele all likely to sign tomorrow. But this is the fourth major decommit for the Bears in this cycle, leaving Cal’s recruiting class in a pretty slim place.
You’d have to expect Cal will head to the transfer portal to try and offset the loss of Williams—Cal has a decent level of depth at defensive tackle with BRETT JOHNSON, Ricky Correia, Jaedon Roberts, and Gunner Rask. But more could always be used.
He just flipped back to Cal. Wow.

Why would anyone decommit from a Wilcox defense to go to a Dykes defense?
