Cal has found an SEC defender! Meet Fort Pierce (Fl.) edge David Reese from the Florida Gators, who has two years left of eligibility to be a Golden Bear.
Reese did play in most of Florida’s games this season, recording two tackles. Reese spent much of his time on special teams and could definitely provide a boost to coverage. He logged 15 tackles in 19 games played at Florida. He also made the SEC Fall Academic Honor Roll his first three seasons, so he should be a perfect fit in the Berkeley classrooms.
It’s Cal’s second major front seven commitment in the transfer portal. The Bears also landed a commitment from Clemson linebacker Sergio Allen on Early Signing Day.
The Bears front seven is still stacked with experienced edge talent, so this isn’t the most significant position of need. Reese can definitely ease into the rotation if needed.
Welcome to Cal David! Go Bears!
Transformation continues.
