As the US looks for those who are responsible for killing 3 US servicemen, suddenly Iran's largest proxy militia "Kataib Hezbollah" suddenly declares that they are suspending all military operations against the US. Let's see if their "1-2-3-You-Can't-Bomb-Me" declaration works.

Without cheating by looking it up, which Cal MBB coach won the Pac-12 Coach of the Year?

Jimmy Chitwood's avatar

Pretty sure it was Braun with the Sweet 16 team.

FiatSlug's avatar

Braun coached Cal from 1996-2008. He was Pac-10 Coach of the Year, but not Pac-12 Coach of the Year.

Jimmy Chitwood's avatar

Then I don’t think we’ve had a P12 COY. Cuonzo never won. Monty didn’t win in 2010.

FiatSlug's avatar

I think you're right.

"Nobody can answer the question. It's a trick question!"

“Dead-on balls accurate.’

SGBear's avatar

Correct. It was Ben Braun.

SGBear's avatar

Without cheating by looking it up, who was Cal's last MBB AP All American (1st team, 2nd, or HM)?

SGBear's avatar

* bzzzt *

The correct answer is Jerome Randal (2010)

heyalumnigo's avatar

Interesting. I didn't think he was an AP All American.

SGBear's avatar

I presume that was supposed to be under MBB Coach of the Year. Alas, no it wasn't Looooouuuuuuuu

TIL: Campanelli volunteered to help coach the Campolindo Cougar JV team in 2008 after their coach died of cancer

Wrong. Kyle Campinelli.

Without cheating by looking it up, who was Cal's last MBB AP All American 1st team?

Jason Kidd?

SGBear's avatar

Correct. Jason Kidd. (1994)

Good one. I guess there will be a bunch of instrumental performers you could put on this list.

Eddy Murphy (Party All the Time)

Patrick Swayze (She's like the Wind)

Steve Martin (King Tut)

Bruce Willis did some stuff, but I can't remember anything except for his Seagram's Golden Wine Cooler commercial

the mystery of dark matter is the main reason i decided to follow the academic trajectory in physics.

there is still little understanding of what the dark matter actually IS even though there is a ton of evidence that it must exist, unless our understanding of some very basic things is completely wrong.

HeyStudentsBears's avatar

this contraption that i helped build over 5 yrs was looking for anti-protons zipping around in the galaxy. the theory was that an excess number of anti-protons MIGHT give some clues as to the particle properties of dark matter.

that was 20+ yrs ago and we did not find anything too exciting ...

Trump loses ground in Quinnipiac poll with women voters. Perhaps attacking Nikki Haley, Taylor Swift, E Jean Carroll, and female judges hasn't been a great strategy.

Alabama public library system leaves the American Library Association, the NFP that supports libraries including giving about $10k/library/year in Alabama. Apparently, the ALA is demanding too much civil rights and freedom of speech. And they reallydon't like that the ALA's president is an out lesbian.

Warriors get solid win vs a good team, Philly

luckily got to see this one in person. great atmosphere and W's were mostly playing with a lead in the 2nd half and didnt blow it.

Embiid was not dominant and looked a little slow or hurt or something. Klay did not play. Wiggins and Kuminga and Green all played well to go w/ Steph's 37 points.

in terms for celebrity sightings, there were a lot of 49er players in the audience that got loud ovations as they came in.

heyalumnigo's avatar

I missed the game and watched the highlights. Noticed halfway through that I hadn't seen a Klay highlight. Turns out he was sick. Does it mean something that they won because Klay wasn't there chucking up bad 3s?

Since the rest of the AL East no longer owns the Orioles on the baseball field, perhaps it is poetically a good time to sell the team. Multiple sources say David Rubenstein, co-founder of the Carlyle Group private equity firm is the buyer

I’m a Kennedy Center member and interestingly I got an email yesterday announcing he is retiring as chairman of the board of trustees. Coincidence? He has spent tens of millions of dollars on DC cultural institutions. It’ll be interesting to see how hands on he’ll be. The O’s have the controlling interest in the network that televises both the O’s and the Nats and they have been fighting for years over how much the Nats are due for their rights. Maybe they can sort it out now with Angelo’s out of the way.

cock

They are insanely loud, obnoxious, can be aggressive, and are stupid AF. They will attack their own reflection in a window or a mirror. Peahens are the females and lack the long flamboyant tail feathers. However, both hens and cocks have these weird feathers on their heads - little feather doohickeys that stick straight up. Google "peacock" to get what I'm talking about. One scientist thinks they are essentially a peafowl-specific hearing mechanism.

There's a peacock that lives in the Rockridge neighborhood! I saw it once, and it sometimes hangs out on my coworker's porch! He said it sleeps in a tree across from his house.

Soup Andersen. The tourist outlet in Buellton (off of 101 just outside of Solvang) abruptly closed earlier this month. Now only the restaurant in Santa Nella (off of I-5) remains.

HeyStudentsBears's avatar

Buellton is where Salvatore has his espresso machine shop where i got my machine from.

https://espressosuperstore.com/

even if you are not in the market for one and you like coffee, it is worth a stop in to sample some espresso and see some interesting machines. i probably spent 2-3 hours there and even got a tour of the back where Salvatore has his machine shop.
