The actual competitions that I've watched have mostly been very engaging.

almost all kickers are PWOs who earn scholarships later in their career. I would guess less than 5 kickers per year get scholarships straight out of high school. A school can only afford to have 2 kickers on scholarship at any given time
I know that very few kickers get a scholarship but if we have an extra one and Wilcox plays so conservative where points are at a premium, why not give a scholarship to a really good FG kicker.

The Olympics -- both summer and winter -- have lost a great deal of luster over the past few decades. They've gone from must watch to meh.
Funny, when I was growing up, the only sports we watched were the Olympics and grand slam tennis.
Winter Olympics are basically rich people sports and thus I have very little interest in watching or following them.
I just went skiing for the first time in 27 years and was shocked that lift tickets were 180-200. Talk about a rich person's sport.
