Warriors blew it again last night. Up 4 with about 5 min left and then go scoreless for about 4 min. Missed a few gimmie layups. Draymond didn't take a layup and instead threw it out to Klay for a 3. He was hot in the first half and cold from 3 in the 2nd half.

Wiseman to Pistons in a 3 team trade and get 5 2nd round picks. I bet both Lamb and Jerome get converted to a full contract.

https://www.espn.com/nba/story/_/id/35623877/source-warriors-trade-james-wiseman-hawks-get-saddiq-bey

heyalumnigo's avatar

Oh I guess it was Wiseman to Pistons for Saddiq Bey. Then Bey to the Hawks for 5 2nds.

heyalumnigo's avatar

And then the 5 2nds and Knox (from Pistons) to Blazers for GP2. So basically Wiseman for GP2

O.Overall's avatar

I don’t think they have the money to lock up both Kuminga and Wiseman so they picked Kuminga

heyalumnigo's avatar

The correct choice between the two.

HeyStudentsBears's avatar

i am not sure what this Format category is about?

in the old days we have to format floppy disks before using them. i suppose you still have to format hard drives and SD cards ...

goldenone's avatar

I forgot about that. FORMAT A:

You thought, it would be better if there where numbers showing the new number of statements. I thought it would be happy if the unit would display the number of current comments (it used to).

No sooner did I post about Covid yesterday did I get a sore throat and aches yesterday afternoon. First Covid test came back negative, but if it walks like a duck...

heyalumnigo's avatar

No 3 had symptoms for like 4 days before testing positive. I think he had symptoms starting Tues and tested negative Thurs and Fri. Didn't test Sat assuming he didn't have it but tested positive on Sun before going back to school.

KetamineCal's avatar

Mine turned positive on day 2 of significant symptoms.

O.Overall's avatar

Good luck! There is a stomach flu going around here on the peninsula too, which hit my youngest on Tuesday and my oldest today. Could be anything!

O.Overall's avatar

Oh dang, scratch that buddy, my no 1 has Covid. Good luck!

I have once again jacked up my right shoulder and arm, not from the self-abuse, but because I am using 2 laptops for work, and I am too lazy to make sure I'm correctly lined up in front of them when working. What a dumb ass.

heyalumnigo's avatar

My left shoulder is messed up from the way I sleep. I lay on my stomach and frequently will extend one arm out and put my head near the shoulder. i think I frequently end up with head on shoulder so over time I'm screwing up the rotator cuff. Maybe stretching it? Then playing BB I reached up to block a shot and hurt it.

The right one just hurts, probably due to throwing a lot of hitting in the cages to the boys.

I probably should get the left one looked at.

Fire Starkey's avatar

self abuse would at least give you some momentary relief

KetamineCal's avatar

I've actually been working on fixing my neck and lower back over the last few months and I think it's working?

The 6,167-Piece Rivendell Is the One Lego Lord of the Rings Set to Rule Them All

It's the largest Lego Lord of the Rings set ever released, and the eighth largest Lego set of all time.

I like Lego a lot, but I've never been to one of these physical sets. Put together a large set

this Christmas: Luke Skywalker's Landspeeder from Xmas - lots of fun.

I got my son the Imperial Star Destroyer kit. It cost like $350 back in the day and I bought it at the Lego Store on the Miracle Mile in Chicago.

Tell the DBD something you want to celebrate

SGBear's avatar

I am so proud of my kid, I am bursting at the seams. My kid is a genuinely really great person.

HeyStudentsBears's avatar

this is very apparent if you talk to SGBear in person as well, which is nice to see.

Oski Disciple's avatar

Congratulations, this is clearly a sign that you're a good father. I too want to celebrate my progeny. One daughter is a special ed teacher, the other a social worker. More importantly they are good people.

HAG's upcoming bday (Mar 1) !!

we text/chat a lot but i never do anything nice for him ...

last year, we went skiing again after many years. it would be nice to coordinate this year if i can get it to work out. but work, life, etc are messing up all my plans.

heyalumnigo's avatar

Being a good friend is all I need!

TheBuckeyeBear's avatar

HAG, come hang out in DC with HSB and me!!!!

Also @DCTrojan and @dcblue, want to do dinner on 2/27 with HeyStudentsBears and me? Anyone else want to join?

DC Trojan's avatar

I think that might work actually, let me do a quick check on the family schedule & I'll get back to you.

Just put an offer in on a cabin near the Lair…hoping it goes smoothly!

heyalumnigo's avatar

DBD Lair cabin!!!

HeyStudentsBears's avatar

we can call it Camp Chitwood, since Blue, Gold and Oski are already taken, right?

Peetyjay's avatar

I should know this, but where is the Lair? I've never really engaged in Alumni activies and barely make it to campus for games, so...

Jimmy Chitwood's avatar

Stanislaus Forest an hour up the mountain from Sonora CA…near a small town called Pinecrest.

heyalumnigo's avatar

One of these days I should go to the Lair.

HeyStudentsBears's avatar

when the kids were young (4-8) i was interested in taking them.

it is hard to do from East coast since it is not just a short drive where you pack up your car for the week. we would have had to have made a 7+ day trip just for the Lair and skip seeing friends and family in the Bay Area.

as they started doing east-coast style sleepaway camp, i realized that a family camp would not seem as exciting anyways ..

HeyStudentsBears's avatar

the Lair is particularly good w/ kids and families. i think they have themed weeks like adults only, etc etc

Jimmy Chitwood's avatar

They used to have a singles week but not sure if they do that anymore.

Jimmy Chitwood's avatar

It was a lot of fun man. Fond memories from growing up.

Peetyjay's avatar

Thanks for sharing. I've done some backpacking in that area in the Emigrant Wilderness. Nice spot! Good luck!

2/19

i am generally not a stressed person on the inside or out.

additionally, probably one of my worst personality traits is not being able to understand other people's stress. this does contribute to the some of stress i feel ... as well as a lot of room for growth and empathy and sympathy.

Fire Starkey's avatar

11/19

I generally don't stress much but I have 2 major events that are pissing me off. First, at the job, I need to double my team size in order to handle all the work but my evil overlords are crying "RECESSION, MUST CUT COSTS" and I'm all "What the fuck do you think my team does, you fucking nitwits? Spend $2M, get $20-40M in benefit." its not hard but Corporation C level peeps don't think rationally like other humans. Final decision next week but I am pessimistic

The other thing is the missus and I have several boutique fitness franchises. We had a spot for our 4th and it was perfect but the landlord just pulled out after everything was negotiated because Best Buy has an exclusion clause and wants their rent cut to accommodate. So back to searching. Fuck you, Best Buy. I am boycotting your shitty stores for life.

SGBear's avatar

Oof. Finger crossed, FS. 🤞

DC Trojan's avatar

you know I'm sympathetic about management not understanding getting equal or better results for less via sourcing, hope they pull their thumbs out their ass... and a pox on Best Buy

GoldenSD81's avatar

14/19, I’m fairly stressed lately. It is mostly work related.

Tangtpt's avatar

5/19

Job stress is virtually gone, which is nice. The other stresses are money and the health of the older members of the family, which I don't consider to be more stress than "normal".

Our CRUMBLING DEMOCRACY

George Santos says that Senator Romney's quip that he didn't belong in Congress was "not very Mormon of him". And Santos should know since he's been a member of the Latter Day Saint's Quorum of Twelve Apostles committee since 2001, shortly after his mom died for the second time.

Lingo 13/19 CBS

I've always loved game shows. I like to play along. The Lingo game itself is pretty standard...guess the word given one letter and win money. The old version with Chuck Woolery (sp?) was kinda dull. This new version is pretty fun. I've never been a fan of RuPaul only because I usually find his personality to be too much for me. I never pegged him for a good game show host, but he's actually pretty good. He knows how to get out of the way when the game needs to speak and he can turn it on to fill in the empty spaces. It's a surprising like for me.

Recently realized that I've never watched a Cal home football game on TV (excepting the Covid year when there were no fans in the stadium). Last home game I missed was in 2012 and didn't watch it, before that was 1989 and it wasn't televised.

Justbear's avatar

Which home game did you miss in 2012? UCLA?

Oski Disciple's avatar

Oregon. Haven't missed a Cal home victory since 1980.

I understand San Diego State. But SMU in the Pac seems weird.

Guess SMU would be our replacement USC as far as NCAA sanction magnets goes.

The confirmed death toll from the Feb. 6 quake in Turkey surpasses 20,000 as per WaPo -

https://www.washingtonpost.com/world/2023/02/09/turkey-syria-earthquake-death-count-updates/

While the death toll reflects combined numbers from Turkey and Syria, the numbers from Turkey alone (17,000+) are comparable now and will probable end up significantly greater than the August 17, 1999 earthquake in Izmit (also 17,000+).
