Reminds me of the person that was trying to pass a ballot initiative prohibiting married people from divorcing. It was a clever counter to the argument that Prop. 8 was designed to preserve the sanctity of marriage.

It’s amazing though how there are no laws about this stuff. For example who gets control of embryos if couple breaks up, etc

The January 1, 1942 Rose Bowl game between Oregon State and Duke could not be played in Pasadena owing to concerns of Japanese attacks (The Rose Parade was canceled). Duke offered to host the game on the other coast. It was a rain-soaked affair that the Beavers won, 20-16. More than 70 players and coaches from the two teams would subsequently join the U.S. military. One of the Duke players, Charles Haynes, was gravely wounded in Italy in 1944 but he was carried to safety by Frank Parker who had played for Oregon State.

Got this nugget from The Year of Peril America in 1942 by Tracy Campbell.

It remains the only season in Cal football history in which they beat all three of their rivals but didn't go to the Rose Bowl. In fact, a victory over St. Mary's on the day of Oski's debut was their only other win that season. Best losing season in Bear football history.
