does a "terrible" liar mean that he's terrible because he lied? or that he was terrible at lying (i.e., got caught)?

I should have noted that as the presumptive answer!

the fish.

good fresh Lake Michigan perch is among one of the better things you can eat.

usually prepared pretty simply, lightly fried, a little lemon ..

I generally prefer freshwater fish (trout and catfish in particular) to saltwater fish.

Great choice of meat for fish tacos. We used to have a lake not so far away that had a good fishable population, but mis-management of the lake, where weed control was too effective, left the lake almost devoid of both perch and trout, not to mention bass (no cover, no food so no reproduction), so its been a while since I've caught a stringer of perch.

If I don't have anything else going on I like to go for a walk around Roosevelt Island in the late afternoon. Currently the timing works out to be right around sunset and I've been seeing the turkeys fly up to roost for the night so I can tell you where their perch is.

Bingewatching Adventure Time on HBO Max, because why not. It's the perfect background show that is worth paying attention to 5 minutes at a time.

Now that Sling is adding ABC/KGO next week, I will finally move from fubo to Sling. Saves about $30/month and gets me Turner just in time for March Madness.

Cobra Kai - season one. Now I had heard about that TV show some, and thought "it might be ok" - but was hardly interested in watching it. We watched The Karate Kid (1984) over a month ago with my daughter - she liked it.

Anyway, I thought I'd try it, since there were so many fans here, and FUCK YEAH, I thought it was a lot of fun, and actually quite good. So we watched the first 3 episodes, and told my daughter she should watch those so we could watch them together - and she was quite grouchy about that. But last night, she surprised me by saying she'd watched 5 episodes! So we had to watch two last night - so much fun, and so much surprise.

It is nice to see that Camden Yards is starting to fill up with fans again--it deserves better than acres of empty seats. I went to an A's game there late in the '18 or '19 season when the O's had already broken the 100-loss mark and it was a ghost town. Announced attendance was about 8k and I'd be surprised if even half that had shown up. There was a pleasant 20-25k when I saw the A's there last year (but still well short of the raucous sellout crowd from my first A's game there back in 2015).

The A’s would kill to have 8k fans at their games

The rest of the story. Will they even be playing in Camden Yards after this year? My guess is, yes.

Since the Dodgers will be going there every year, I'm going to have to find a trip to go there and Pittsburgh. And probably the Nats if it's the same trip. No 1 is leaving after this summer so it may have to be this year in July. The Pirates are in Apr middle of the week so that's probably not a one night trip from Philly.

Expand full comment

We planned to see the Dodgers last time they were in Baltimore but we ended up being out of town. I'm glad the new schedule gives more opponent variety; it gets boring seeing so much of the schedule dominated by the same division foes.

Expand full comment

And of course the schedule makers don't have any of Pirates, the Phillies, the Nats, and the Orioles on the same road trip. They're all different road trips.
