Against HAG's advice, I bought cheap tires. What a mistake. My car handles like crap now. In my mind's eye, I can see HAG pursing his lips and shaking his head in mild disappointment.
I go for the Pilot Sport all season 4 on my TSX which is a great high performance all season tire with good wet weather handling. The only other one I'd look at is the Continental Extreme Contact which is also really good in wet weather. Unfortunately on the Miata I have very limited options and I have a summer tire. Just alright in the rain but I very rarely take it out in the rain.
there are times i have gone the cheap route also thinking i was "smart" and was getting a great deal. my old age wisdom tells me that "great deals" are rare.

Yes I am. Never cheap out on tires. The only thing keeping you connected to the road.
I always end up buying the most expensive tire too. When I start comparing, there's no way I want to choose a less functional tire.
