Southwest is doing a promotion: book two flights in the next two days for travel before May 24, and you'll get a companion pass for August 15–September 30
What a regional meet by the Cal Women's Gymnastics team - we're going to the Natty! But we are ranked 7th, so there will be some work to do - last year's winning score was 198.200, and we've hit 198.100+ twice this season so if everything hits right we would have an outside shot; Oklahoma is very very tough though.
Heavenly is going to stop about 6 lifts because many of their seasonal employees are gone after this last weekend. On the best snow year in a long time, maybe if ever for them.
I wonder if Northstar and the others will be doing the same thing.
I love rain more than anyone I've ever known. Usually can't get enough of it. Droughts literally depress me. But on Wednesday as I walked to work and had to open the umbrella I looked heavenward and said, "okay, we're good, thanks." Now that that's settled I could do with some warm weather. It's damn chilly for April today.
I think a few more months of tons of rain would be nice. Maybe even six more months of it. Hell, let's just take it all the way to our El Nino winter this year.
Sarah Polley's 11 year old daughter wrote her a letter "from the Academy" revoking her screenwriting Oscar. If she could've made it onto letter head with paragraphs. . .
Weird weather on Saturday. Cool rain in the morning, sunny and near 80 in the afternoon, and 60-70 MPH gusty wind overnight. I went out right after the rain ended and saw half a dozen wild turkeys walking on the nearby island with the male fanning his tail feathers every minute or so. Pretty cool to see right near the city. The up and down weather has mostly done in the cherry blossoms for the year.
Rough weekend here…my older pup is really slipping, and Fri/Sat she was in bad shape. Then yesterday, she totally rallies…they say at the end it’s good days and bad…we did a Quality of Life assessment in end of Oct…my vet is coming for a new QIL visit this week.
I’ve been able to process some over the past 5.5 months, but it’s still gonna leave a real hole in my heart.
I’m very sorry to hear this. I volunteer with our local humane society/animal shelter, working with dogs on their behavior skills. I get to witness the joy in our pups when they get to meet and finally go home with a forever family. You gave her 15+ years of an amazing life (!!!), and she’s given you heartwarming memories (<3). I hope you find comfort in the memories of the adventures you shared together.
Thank you CG04…there is definitely a special bond with this one…I totally won the lottery. She’s rallied a little - the vet that came out still had her quality of life high enough on the scale, but we’re admittedly down to keeping track of the good days v. bad days…but what a ride it has been.
Appreciate all the support from my DBD family… xoxo
Sorry to hear this. In my home, I'm the one who makes that visit to the vet with the aged and infirm dog or cat. That was, up until the last one, which was our Boston Terrier. We had a vet make a house call for the last rites. It was the best way as she got to say her goodbyes in the comfort of her home on her favorite bed. That was more than 7 years ago.
I understand where you're coming from. With all our pets, we've felt fortunate to have had them in our lives and we've remembered the joy each has brought us. This is what we've carried with us, and I hope you'll be able to carry into the future. Peace be with you.
Golden State Warriors forward Andrew Wiggins is nearing a return to the team and is expected to be back early this week, sources told ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski on Monday.
Wiggins, who has missed 22 consecutive games attending to a family matter, is expected to be back in the Bay Area as soon as the next 24 hours, sources told Wojnarowski.
It is unclear how much Wiggins will play in the team's final three regular-season games, but his return would come with enough time to prepare for the play-in tournament and playoffs beginning next week. The Warriors are currently the sixth seed in the Western Conference.
Former Cal Bear Matt Bradley and possible future PAC 12 Conference member SDSU to play UCONN for Men’s Basketball National Championship tonight. Huskies are 7 point favorites.
Gotta think about the marvelous things (not) he would have experienced as a team member on Cal's MBB team this season. Now he is right at center stage of the March Madness phenomenon.
The Madsen presser is today at 1 pm on PAC 12 networks. Carol Christ and Jim Knowlton will be on hand whilst Roxy will serve as master of ceremonies. Must-see TV.
I think Mark Madsen is a really good hire….Monty did a good job. ;-)
Personable, positive, high energy guy…I think he will have success, and we will at least be playing competent basketball on day way, even with a plenty of the same guys on the roster.
Don't know why everyone is so excited about Madsen. After he wins a few conference titles and gets us to the final four he'll probably just leave and if not, after twenty years of consistent winning he'll probably retire and we'll have to go through the whole hiring process again.
Saw the new D&D movie last night. It's no great work of art, but it's funny and enjoyable with a solid enough emotional core. Perfectly disposable fun, 14/19 WB.

That means I have to fly Southwest
I guess it's fine for short flights like Burbank or SD.

WEATHER
I'm done with Winter. Can we got on with Spring, please?

@You forgot the sarcasm font.@
No, I did not.
clapdoc is in LA so I don't think they got as much rain as we did in the Bay Area. On a yearly average maybe.
A glutton for rain-induced punishment, then?
I guess I must have something that seems like a limit.

Another one at Cal Tech was disassembling a VW bug and then re-assembling it in someone's dorm room.

Sorry to hear, I hope this process is short and not too painful for all involved, and you can know that she lived a long and much-loved life.

Thanks my friend. It is so hard. I am trying to arrange for the in-home euth…the sweetheart gets soooo nervous when we go to the vet, from day 1.
She’s lived an amazing life tho.
Glad you've had good times with your pooch, sorry they're ending.

Thanks hag. 15.5…we’ve had a helluva run together.

Apparently his father had health issues. Perhaps a heart attack.
Watched a lot of baseball this weekend. Lots of AL Central action…
The Tigers are bad. The Royals are bad. Twins and Tribe are good…Chisox solid now that La Russa is gone.
OTHER COLLEGE
Former Cal Bear Matt Bradley and possible future PAC 12 Conference member SDSU to play UCONN for Men’s Basketball National Championship tonight. Huskies are 7 point favorites.
Matt Bradley has now won 2 more games in the NCAA tournament than his former Cal teammates won all season long. Wishing him well tonight!
It's nice that the Pac-12 has a team in the championship game.
After struggling the past three games, Bradley finally came alive in a big way Saturday to the tune of 21 points, including 11 in the first 5:30.
Gotta think about the marvelous things (not) he would have experienced as a team member on Cal's MBB team this season. Now he is right at center stage of the March Madness phenomenon.
So we're possible national champs adjacent

Pretty impressive press conference.
Can't imagine a guy that is more opposite of Mark Fox.
Has he managed to say "Go Bears" yet though?
Go Bears!!!
