Dodgers lose 2 1 run games to the Phillies. Let the second guessing of Dave Roberts' pitching staff begin.

Do you know the details of yesterday's game? Glasnow didn't have it in the 3rd, probably due to the slippery mound when the rain started coming down and his footing was bad so he didn't get out of the 3rd(?). 4 walks. The Phillies didn't do much the first 2 innings. The only argument would be that the Dodgers didn't ask for the mound to be fixed while Glasnow was pitching. The Phillies did when Sanchez came to warm up and they fixed the mound. Vesia gave up the grand slam on the 1st pitch after the umpire made him wait 3-4 min in the rain after he was warm to get new rosin bags. After that, nothing until Treinan came in. He has given up 0 runs this year. 1st batter line drive that is misplayed by Pages the CF. Walk, Bloop single I think. Then a ground ball to 3rd that wasn't hit hard and the DP wasn't turned because a super fast runner barely beats out the relay to 1st.

Friday's game Dodgers lose 3-2. 1 run in the 1st and then nothing until Yates gives up the HR in the 7th.

So I'd say he's handled the pitching staff fine this year. They're not letting the starts go super deep because their bullpen is amazing. And you do remember how he handled it during the playoffs last year don't you? So I'd say between the playoffs and so far this year, the narrative is getting old.

Issues with the mound due to rain are reason enough to suspend the game. In fact, it should be a slam dunk reason for suspending the game.

MLB takes chances every time they fail to stop play when the rain starts to fall. They really roll the dice during the playoffs when it starts to rain.

I remember there was the one pitcher that kept throwing the balls out of play. Everytime the umpire gave him a new one, he tossed it out. Finally after 4 or 5 balls the umpire called for a rain delay.

That sounds like a pitcher who was basically telling the umpire, "Take a hint, blue. I'm not pitching in these conditions."

All true, but losing the division lead to the Giants by losing 1 run games is bound to be a source of angsts in Dodger land.

Personally, I'll not put too much stock in much of anything until at least May 1st. Although, teams can bury themselves early. Losing 2 of 3 on the road (but not all 3) to one of the better teams in MLB (alone) does not do that.

I agree, I don't think the Dodgers are worried about being in 2nd place right now. In June, maybe, and it depends on how many games out.
