Actually, I think that history will make it blindingly apparent that Trump inflicted tariffs on the American consumer out of personal greed and possibly as a self-preservation measure.
One theory is that if the dollar tanks, then crypto can gain strength and stability in world financial markets. This is highly risky as crypto is basically a Ponzi scheme. There's nothing to back crypto, such as the full faith and credit of the United States.
The self-preservation angle comes in with Trump's alleged subservience to Putin. Crypto is a tremendous avenue for money laundering. Criminal empires need money laundering to survive.
Both the Seattle Kraken and the San Jose Sharks are out of the playoffs, which means this game was all about pride and it was one that the Sharks lost. It’s been a rough ride for both teams this year, but this is hockey and anything can happen. With a young Sharks team looking to develop and find some chemistry, the players didn’t find it in last night’s battle against the Kraken. It was fan appreciation at the Shark Tank, which got things to a more positive start.
The A’s dropped the series finale in Colorado on Sunday afternoon, losing in the yellow jerseys and getting crushed by the Rockies 12-5, seeing a chance at a series sweep slip away. Not a great way to end the road trip but at least they won the series.
The biggest miss of the afternoon goes to Christian Koss.
It didn’t come with a bat in his hand, or a glove either — but with a Powerade cooler. As his teammates mobbed Wilmer Flores after his pinch-hit walk-off single, Koss, dutifully in his back-up infielder role, took up the celebratory fount, jogged the jug out onto the field, and looked for the man he aimed to anoint in the knot of bodies.
Who had the Giants leading the NL West a week and a half into the season? Probably the same person that had the top 3 NL West teams with 5 total losses a week and a half into the season.
Giants have yet to play against a +0.500 club. I suspect a strong reversion to the expected norm is coming quite soon, starting when they play the Yanks, Phils, and Angels on the Road.
Yup, banking wins is a good thing regardless. I don't think they're actually going to beat the Dodgers for the division, but with a fast start a wild card berth is reachable.
The Dodgers erased a four-run deficit to take a late lead, but the Phillies rallied in the seventh inning to win 8-7 in Sunday’s finale of a three-game series at Citizens Bank Park in Philadelphia.
That early hole got chipped away at in the middle innings, then took the lead with a three-run seventh that included RBI doubles by Mookie Betts and Will Smith to bookend the scoring.
Do you know the details of yesterday's game? Glasnow didn't have it in the 3rd, probably due to the slippery mound when the rain started coming down and his footing was bad so he didn't get out of the 3rd(?). 4 walks. The Phillies didn't do much the first 2 innings. The only argument would be that the Dodgers didn't ask for the mound to be fixed while Glasnow was pitching. The Phillies did when Sanchez came to warm up and they fixed the mound. Vesia gave up the grand slam on the 1st pitch after the umpire made him wait 3-4 min in the rain after he was warm to get new rosin bags. After that, nothing until Treinan came in. He has given up 0 runs this year. 1st batter line drive that is misplayed by Pages the CF. Walk, Bloop single I think. Then a ground ball to 3rd that wasn't hit hard and the DP wasn't turned because a super fast runner barely beats out the relay to 1st.
Friday's game Dodgers lose 3-2. 1 run in the 1st and then nothing until Yates gives up the HR in the 7th.
So I'd say he's handled the pitching staff fine this year. They're not letting the starts go super deep because their bullpen is amazing. And you do remember how he handled it during the playoffs last year don't you? So I'd say between the playoffs and so far this year, the narrative is getting old.
Issues with the mound due to rain are reason enough to suspend the game. In fact, it should be a slam dunk reason for suspending the game.
MLB takes chances every time they fail to stop play when the rain starts to fall. They really roll the dice during the playoffs when it starts to rain.
I remember there was the one pitcher that kept throwing the balls out of play. Everytime the umpire gave him a new one, he tossed it out. Finally after 4 or 5 balls the umpire called for a rain delay.
All true, but losing the division lead to the Giants by losing 1 run games is bound to be a source of angsts in Dodger land.
Personally, I'll not put too much stock in much of anything until at least May 1st. Although, teams can bury themselves early. Losing 2 of 3 on the road (but not all 3) to one of the better teams in MLB (alone) does not do that.

Dodgers erase big deficit, but walk away with another loss to Phillies
