In celebration of World Quantum Day this Sunday April 14th, IonQ is proud to be ringing the New York Stock Exchange Opening bell at 9:30 am EST today!!
maybe it will make our sinking stock price go up??!!
The World Quantum Day is celebrated on April 14, a reference to 4.14, the rounded first digits of Planck’s constant: 4.1356677×10−15 eV⋅s = 0.000 000 000 000 004 1356677 electron volt second, a product of energy and time that is the fundamental constant governing quantum physics.
The A’s put together their best stretch of baseball over the last few days taking two straight games over the Detroit Tigers and another over the defending-champion Texas Rangers thanks to a hat-trick of home runs from Shea Langeliers.
The offense had to be jarred from its slumber at some point. A pivotal series sweep at the hands of the Washington Nationals last summer was the first torpedo to the hull, but again? And in April? Too early for that nonsense—thankfully, surprisingly, Tyler Fitzgerald and Nick Ahmed felt the same way.
The Dodgers faced off against the Minnesota Twins for the final match of their three game series on Wednesday, dropping the series finale by a final score of 3-2.
Bobby Miller got the start for the Dodgers, and was looking to turn things around after a poor start against the Chicago Cubs where he failed to make it out of the second inning.
Ohtani's interpreter facing Federal charges. Per NYT, he's also negotiating a guilty plea-deal - which means he either did it or he is super-duper Japanese/loyal
I think this counts as a skill: Cooking. I'm adequate but the missus prepares 90% of our dinners. I'd like to do more cooking and actually be good at it.
cooking is a legit skill. not sure i have any concrete advice. maybe just commit to cooking 1-2 meals a week no matter they are. eventually you get good at it from the repetition.
presumably you will develop some repertoire of dishes you can make so that you dont cook the same thing every time.
that being said, whenever my 17 yr enthusiastically asks if they can help make dinner i say "sure, why dont you start by making white rice" which they find supremely boring.
i have a Mr Mayagi attitude about making white rice as the gateway to learning how to cook. i college and grad school the amount of time i allowed myself to make dinner was the 20 min it took to make a pot of white rice.
Making white rice is simple, but it can be intimidating if you've never done it. I know that sounds nonsensical, but it was true for me because I was absolutely sure I'd muck it up.
A rice cooker is the key. My kids and I all have this one. Water in the rice, water around the bowl (this creates steam to cook the rice), push the lever down, and cook.
Learning project management software like Smartsheet, Asana, or Jiro. I think I can upgrade my office's workflow processes, improving everybody's efficiency. I think I can justify my job for another year if I save our company a quarter million dollars by designing it myself rather than buying an off-the-shelf solution.
we use both Smartsheets and Jira at work. i cant say i love it because it does not reflect the way i work. i can see that for actual project mgmt it would be pretty good.
i dont really want to do this, but a good amount of code that controls the lasers that zap the ions on our quantum computers is all written in JS.
desired: meditation or yoga or some sort of physical practice that embodies mindfulness or slowing down.
i would like to think that my daily rituals and slow pace are a good head start and i am not particularly stressed out by anything. however, i am curious to see what something like this would do for me. i could benefit from a bit more focus and concentration ...

I'm not opposed to a rice cooker per se, it just takes up more space on the counter or in the pantry.
