Lake Hillier is a saline lake in Australia. The most notable feature of the lake is its pink, vibrant colour. The vibrant colour is permanent and does not alter when the water is taken in a container. The pink colour is believed to be due to the presence of the organism, Dunaliella salina.

The Oakland Athletics kicked off a four game road series with the Los Angeles Angels in Anaheim Monday night. The A’s sent lefty Kent Waldichuk (0-2) to the mound against southpaw José Suarez for the Angels. Both starters have made four starts without a win early in this 2023 season.
Suarez made quick work of the first two batters for the A’s, but Brent Rooker sent the first pitch he saw into the left field bleachers for his fifth home run of the season. Jesús Aguilar followed that with a similar shot into the same bleachers for his third homer of the season. So, after the first half inning was finished the A’s were already up 2-0.
There are two general philosophies you can take with the San Francisco Giants as we near the one-month mark of the season.
The pessimist’s view as that this is a team in a perpetual state of closeness. The San Francisco Close But No Cigars. They’re not the team across the Bay, getting skunked on a nightly basis in uncompetitive and embarrassing fashion. Most of their losses could have been wins. Many of their losses should have been wins.
They did get to the conference finals once (which was a new high-water mark for the Clippers), so that's something. But otherwise, a lot of wasted seasons.
I think Jimmy Buckets might be the best US born player right now, a shade above Bron and Curry and Tatum, but a level below Embiid/Jokic/Giannis who are in their own tier right now
No 2 liked pink up until preschool. He loved Dora so he had some stuff that had some pink. We took him to Great America when he was probably 3 and he got his picture taken with Dora. She was like 5 feet tall so he had this scared look on his face. Bought him a little Dora backpack.
Then when he went to preschool when he was probably 4 1/2, the boys in Louisville told him boys shouldn't like pink, and he didn't want anything pink after that. One of his best pictures was his preschool picture day with his pink polo shirt.
SGB2.0 loved pink as a kid. Wanted a pink backpack as a 2nd grader. We had to explain that choosing what you love is great and should be done, but be prepared for people who don't share your love or have their own views on boys with pink. He wore that backpack for almost a full year before tiring of the comments for classmates. I'd like to think it was good practice for - a decade later - being an out-and-proud transgender person who wears women's clothes to school 75% of the time. That doesn't stop me from asking "are you wearing that out?", as parents often do.
this is a house favorite - the old fashioned silent ones that is.
whenever one of the kids is not in the best mood or upset, i can usually cheer them up by suggesting we watch an episode or tow of PP. we just sit quietly together and watch. since we have seen most of them already, it is just a matter of which one you are in the mood for.
after that they have enough energy to go off and do something or chat about whatever is on their mind.
Dudes, re Biden, I think one of two things happens if he is the D nominee:
1. Trump is the R nominee, then Biden wins but sometime after Jan 2025 his brains turn to applesauce and we are paralyzed by a domestic political crisis while Xi and Putin burn the post WW2 international order to the ground.
2. Someone other than Trump is the R nominee (likely DeSantis), the election becomes a contest between competent seeming middle age person and super old bumbling guy and Biden loses badly.
Yeah, option 1 seems likeliest. How lame though! Another Biden-Trump general. If that were a TV show, it would not be renewed for season 2. Makes the democracy seem fake, like you have no choice…
I finished it over the weekend. It's...interesting. Watch a couple more and see what you think. I wrote up my view in yesterday's and I think I gave it a 10 or 11/18.
I watched this to watch the Grizzles lose. I don't like LeBron, but I'm OK with the Lakers winning this round to knock the Grizzles out. Then the Lakers can lose in the next round.
I think Ja needs to change his game in the playoffs. He can't keep going for these highlight dunks and drives when the whistles tighten. He's not going to get the same calls he gets during the season. See James Harden. And he sometimes goes out of control, leading to the two charges that LeBron took.
P.S. Keep shooting Dillon Brooks!! Grizzles should've appealed when he didn't get suspended.
BERKELEY – California men's golfer Sampson Zheng was selected on Tuesday to play in the 2023 Arnold Palmer Cup matches at Laurel Valley Golf Club outside of Ligonier, Pennsylvania on June 8-10. The prestigious Ryder Cup-style competition, in its 27th year, features the top men's and women's collegiate golfers from the United States versus their international counterparts.
Zheng, who will play for the international team, finished fifth in the final international men's rankings that were released by the Palmer Cup committee on Tuesday. The top six golfers from the final ranking for both the United States and the international side were automatically selected for their respective teams. Both teams feature 12 golfers apiece, with the remainder of the rosters selected by the Palmer Cup committee.
BERKELEY – The California baseball will attempt to get back into the win column on Tuesday when it takes on No. 8 Stanford at Klein Field at Sunken Diamond for a nonconference clash. The game will begin at 6:05 p.m. PT and will be air on the Stanford Live Stream.
Cal (18-18) is coming off a 2-2 week after losing two of three to No. 23 Oregon over the weekend. The Bears continue to swing a hot bat, hitting over .300 as a team over the last 10 games and averaging over 10 hits a game and eight runs per contest during that stretch. Stanford enters this week ranked No. 8 in the latest D1Baseball poll and is 25-12 overall after taking a series against Washington at home last weekend.
BERKELEY – The field is set for the 2023 Pac-12 Beach Volleyball Championship with third-seeded California (25-8) facing sixth-seeded Arizona State (11-11) in the first round Wednesday at 12 p.m. PT. The three-day, double-elimination tournament will take place at Stanford Beach Volleyball Stadium.
The Golden Bears' seeding ties the highest in program history; Cal was also the No. 3 seed in both 2018 and 2019. Last season, the Bears placed third in the tournament as the No. 4 seed despite suffering a first-round loss to Arizona. A first-round victory in this year's tournament would propel the Bears into the winner's bracket for the first time since 2018 where they would face the winner of the Wednesday morning match between No. 2 USC and No. 7 Arizona.

Man, the Clippers invested so many resources into getting this guy and Paul George and they almost never play in the playoffs.
Yeah I think at this point you’d have to mark that effort down as a failure. When does his k expire?
They did get to the conference finals once (which was a new high-water mark for the Clippers), so that's something. But otherwise, a lot of wasted seasons.

Have you seen DeSantis speak lately? He has been bumbling and stumbling when he has to go off script.
IMO DeSantis has been more potential than performance as a national candidate.
