LOWELL – The No. 7 California Golden Bears women's rowing team put themselves in contention to take home the Pac-12 Championship as they were just 4.5 points behind Stanford and Washington heading into the final race, but came away with third place at Dexter Lake in Lowell, Oregon on Sunday morning.
In the varsity eight race, Cal jumped out with the leading pack behind Stanford and Washington and had open water ahead of the rest of the field. The Bears fell further behind the Cardinal and Huskies with open water separating them but maintained control of the third position through the halfway mark. Cal was unable to make up the ground and finished third in a time of 06:20.778.
