That's a bummer, their cinnamon rolls were EXCELLENT. But their weird hours, including never opening before noon, had to be a hindrance to what was essentially a breakfast bakery.
Observation about the "debt limit negotiations" - it's clearly a case of both sides of seeing this as not getting stuck with something rotten in the end. King of like a hand of hearts where everyone is angling *not* to end up taking the Queen of Spades.
In essence, each side is hoping to preserve their leverage and get more of what they want. Important feature of these negotiations - the deals are talked about in terms of the next two years. In terms of time, that gets us into the next congress and the next presidential term.
Texas House introduces 20 articles of impeachment against Texas AG Paxton. a) that was fast. b) not sure what invisible line Paxton crossed in the sea of immoral, grifting BS done at the Texas state level that was different from last month, and c) geez, that's a lot of crime
I’ve been reading (without much surprise) the various stories about the USC AD resigning for being a work-shy asshole. I see writers saying “another hiring debacle for SC” which is fair enough but at the time all these writers were saying “oh well done for getting someone less parochial who did a good job at Cincinnati” so apparently they were just as clueless as the SC administration, which is not a ringing endorsement really
My very twisted brain delights in the fact that IMDB led me to the fact that Pat Morita's fist film after The Karate Kid was something called "Night Patrol" and Pat Morita played "Rape Victim". This totally random thing kills me every time I think of it but for this alone, IMDB is one of the greatest things Western Civilization has ever produced
"The Game Show Show" (ABC, Wednesday nights, I think). 18/19. I have always loved game shows. This series is a retrospective of (mostly) American game shows from the '50s to today. I'm 3 episodes in (1 hour each) and I've been thoroughly entertained. Last night was about reality competition shows, and the first show it spotlighted was The Gong Show. Wonderful! They even interviewed the Unknown Comic for the series, and he took off his bag.
I am really enjoying this season. Seems fairly obvious that Ted is heading back home. I know next week says season finale but I do wonder if it might just be the series finale.
The second season was so choppy - I’m sure because of COVID constraints in filming - that I’m enjoying the polish of this season. I can understand your reaction though- if the 3 season arc means that this is the season in which characters sort out their problems, it’s definitely going to lack any edge.
SACRAMENTO – In their first day of competition at the NCAA West Preliminary, California track & field's women had a lot of work to do in order to top Wednesday's outing, in which three Golden Bear men qualified through to the upcoming Outdoor Championships. Not only did the women match that total, they nearly doubled it – at the end of the night, five additional Bears had joined the Finals-bound party and another two had advanced to the next round of their respective events.
Cal's first qualifier (freshman Audrey Jacobs) had to wait quite some time before she could celebrate – she had won her flight in the hammer throw, but that was only the second of three 16-athlete sections to compete. In the end, her new U20 Dutch record of 64.57m (211-10), which ranks fourth-best in program history, was enough to finish in a coveted top-12 spot and place her at third on this year's World U20 list.
SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. – For the second consecutive night the Cal baseball team had a lead but saw it slip away thanks to a late run by their opponent. Tonight No. 1-seed Stanford came from behind, scoring 16 runs over the final four innings to win 18-10 on Wednesday night at the Pac-12 Baseball Tournament.
The program has remained decidedly mediocre for 30 years...Esquer presided over much of that time, and his time in Berkeley was literally the walking embodiment of mediocre...
Oakland lost yet again tonight as the A’s dropped the series and road trip finale tonight in Seattle as they fell late 3-2. They went winless on this road trip.
The A’s got right to scoring today. Ryan Noda doubled for the first hit of the game, setting up Seth Brown to put the A’s on the board with a big blast

The outlet used to sell chocolate covered oatmeal cookies. Those are very good. The nuggets are also very good. We finish them up on the car drive home.
I find the Mint Chip flavor overpowers everything else...cookie, chocolate covering, everything. I am a fan of the ice cream on it's own, but not in the It's It....
Are you high, perchance celebrating our impending three day weekend? Jimmy C just chose the objectively worst It's It as the best (obligatory note: I have not tried matcha because no).

First heard about this on Nextdoor, of all places. Seems like my Nextdoor (in SF) has some very interesting discussions.

That guy is a scandal factory. I know it's Jersey but they could at least elect Bruce Springsteen or something.
I’m all for it. The real fear of these bums is that we start talking about corruption that’s more subtle than “I got a bag of cash!”

Silo AKA a snuff series as they seem to kill one character each week.
I’m enjoying it, tho largely because I am a huge Rebecca Ferguson fan.
Oh, I’m enjoying it as well. Great cast, that is one of the reasons why I am sadden by them killing off such great actors each week.
Mayor Jahns played a solid character in the 1991 Richard Grieco classic If Looks Could Kill.
(For my money, IMDB remains one of the best apps around). ;-)
I’ve been a fan of Will Patton (Deputy Marnes) since he played the villainous General Bethlehem in the underrated 1997 dystopian film The Postman.
My very twisted brain delights in the fact that IMDB led me to the fact that Pat Morita's fist film after The Karate Kid was something called "Night Patrol" and Pat Morita played "Rape Victim". Rebecca Ferguson belongs on that same list.
I have been been known to get lost in IMDB rabbit holes.

I’m enjoying the setup for the denouement of Ted Lasso.
I am really enjoying this season. Seems fairly obvious that Ted is heading back home. I know next week says season finale but I do wonder if it might just be the series finale.
I’ve enjoyed the fact that they’ve finally started winning.
I could get behind Ted Lasso replacing Wilcox.
Yeah, I am enjoying that all the team chemistry and locker room building is finally translating to some wins.
I already have multiple real life lovable loser teams to root for, I don’t need a fictional one as well to root for.
interesting, the missus and I have not liked this season much. Feels like it has lost its edge

I kinda agree with your statement, but we've still been enjoying it - the Mexican in the Country's game was quite funny.
😢
What the hell are they doing in DC?
I'm jealous that "The Play that Goes Wrong" has its only US tour site in DC. Playing Jul 20-Aug 13th at the Kennedy Center.

I meant politics but I guess SGB started a different thread for that. So carry on.
I'm going to an outdoor jazz concert this afternoon. If you're asking about politics or the debt limit, I can't help you there.
