Alabama State offices are closed today for [checks notes] Jefferson Davis' birthday. And if you knew that, you probably also know that they also get the day off for Confederate Memorial Day on April 22nd.

Washington Commanders, NY Giants, LV Raiders have a 0.1% chance of winning the Super Bowl this year. Also, there are three team with worse chances than that.

But the Commanders have a new owner, new HC, and new QB. I thought all was well. Plus the did get rid of their alleged perv kicker.

Nice.

I'm conflicted on who I want to win. Even though I was a Celtics fan in the 80s I don't want them to win, except for Jaylen Brown. And I don't want Kyrie to get another championship but I do like Luka.

I suppose I'm narrowly favoring Boston, but it's not a strong preference.

A’s fall in series finale to Braves

https://www.athleticsnation.com/2024/6/2/24169892/as-fall-in-series-finale-to-braves

The A’s dropped the series finale against the Atlanta Braves on Sunday morning, falling by a final of 3-1 against the team with the fourth-best record in the National League.

Today’s game saw one of Oakland’s young promising starting pitchers make his return to the club today. Right-hander Luis Medina, who has been on the IL all season long due to a knee sprain, made his season debut today and it went about as well as one would hope. Medina struck out the first batter he faced to start this game, but a couple baserunners later and the Braves were staked to an early 1-0 lead.

Doval devolved in the 9th

The San Francisco Giants had a chance to finish a tough home stand series against the two best teams in baseball with a respectable 3-3 record.

Spotted a two-run lead in the 9th, Camilo Doval took the mound well-rested and, as we’d quickly discover, a little rusty.

The gap between the Giants and properly run large market teams is wide.

The Athletic had the Giants as a buyer in their buyers/sellers list. Maybe they want to be, but realistically, too many holes in my opinion. Let's see how Snell does when he comes back. Freak injury to Jung Hoo Lee didn't help. And the back end of the pen is faltering.

They’re in some trouble. - that Lee injury was devastating, and in news that should surprise absolutely no one, Snell is a complete waste.

Ownership and Farhan are way too frugal, risk-averse and arrogant to make any type of move for an impact player at the deadline, even a rental like a Pete Alonso, etc. Cobb is done, Ray won’t make any real impact until maybe August, and Hicks is gonna match his career high in innings pitched next week so good luck with that.

They’ll compete for that final Wildcard spot because pretty much every team does, but they’re no real threat.
