Taxi pulled up to take my new spouse and I to our honeymoon. I stepped off the curb with our luggage, rolled my ankle… and broke it. Flew to Hawaii anyway and went to the ER when we got there.
Was running to catch a bus after a job interview (that went poorly) during summer (still in college). Tripped on the curb spraining my ankle and sprawling to the ground. I could hear some folks gasp. As I hobbled onto the bus that waited for me to get up, the driver simply said "there's another bus coming right behind us". No job offer, but a couple weeks of pain as a parting gift.
In a hotel shower-bath, went to step out and my other foot slipped out from under me. I took the shower curtain and rod down - got wrapped up in the curtain so I couldn't brace my fall adequately, smashed into the towel rod on the way down. Laid on the ground groaning for a bit while taking stock of my parts. Sprains and bruises - but now I'm super careful about getting out of tubs.
When No 2 and 3 were about 6 and 3, they really got into horse racing. They watched at least 2 different horse racing channels. They would sit in the arms of the love seat and pretend they were jockeys. They knew the names of the tracks and the jockeys. They designed silks for halloween and my MIL made them. We got them little goggles, whips, and helmets and they wore the complete kit to Churchill Down at least a couple of times.
I was half owner of a filly that won a 6 furlong stakes race at Bay Meadows as a 2 year-old, and finished 2nd in a 1 1/16 stakes in the slop as a 3 year-old…many shots were consumed after each. What a delight.
James Naismith invented basketball and had various iterations of ball and basket. He originally had a peach basket, but they had bottoms and it was tedious to poke the balls out of the basket, so they removed the bottom of the basket. But then the basketball had laces, which made it bounce unpredictably. Naismith met with Abner Doubleday. Doubleday was a Civil War general and he recommended throwing a horse through the basket. Actually I don't know, but everything I said up to the end was true.

I feel for Judge Merchan in the sentencing phase in Trump’s NY state trial. Even though it’s a non violent offense, T has shown zero remorse, and so some jail time would not be out of the question. Really anything other than jail time, T will not give a crap about. But if Merchan sentences T to even a day in jail, he will for sure get death threats, etc. It’s just really sad to see basically gang/mafia type tactics used by MAGA types on the right to intimidate judges, jurors.
I think Judge Merchan must sentence Trump to time in jail. And I would advocate for the maximum of four years.
Throughout this trial, DJT has sought to undermine the rule of law. The gag order violations are evidence of his contempt for the judge, the process, and the outcome. The fines levied were mere "chump change" for Trump.
Indeed, Trump and his followers seek to burn down the judicial system, our laws and the basis for them, and more broadly, the system put in place by the US Constitution. Trump literally doesn't care about the consequences as long as he can get what he wants and can be de facto ruler over the United States. He is a clear and present danger. Incarceration isn't enough.
My undergrad major was political science so the thread is apropos for me. Despite its reputation for being ultra left, I found most of my professors at Berkeley were center right, or center left. One of my most memorable classes was counter revolutionary movements, taught by A.J. Gregor.
Loved how Gregor always ended the class by addressing the students as "comrades," an irony that I think was lost on the many of his students.
I think this crowd is open to center-right POV...civil discourse that is grounded in facts and policy. And actually, some disdain of the politics of the far left POV.

For the purposes of this headline, I mean a four-seam fastball. I know you’re reading this not even thinking about that. You’re thinking about Pavin Smith’s absolute bomb of a walk-off 2-run home run against Randy Rodríguez that extended the San Francisco Giants’ losing streak to a season-high 5 games in a 4-2 loss against their Wild Card division rivals, the Arizona Diamondbacks.
Commanders is an uninspired choice for the franchise. Further, it's a reminder of Daniel Snyder's reign of (t)error over the NFL's Washington franchise. In short, there's nothing good about the name. It should be jettisoned once something more suitable is found.
Commanders is a dumb name, but I think I am more disappointed by the Guardians. Coulda/shoulda just pulled from their own history and been the Spiders! These name changes are such cool, unique opportunities and the teams just seem to shit the bed consistently with them. I get it, there is a Guardian Bridge in Cleveland, but it is a dumb name nonetheless
After doubling, tripling, and quadrupling down on her hard foul on Caitlyn Clark, Chennedy Carter issues another non-apology for her foul on Clark. Carter's coach trots out their own rookie during the press conference with the "rooks get hazed and that's normal" story line. How hard is it to apologize and not become the villain?
Reminiscent of the hard fouls on MJ by Detroit, NY, etc. It’s BS, but also she needs to muscle up a bit and her teammates need to have her back by hammering the other team’s star in response or else it will keep happening

it was an early morning drive up to CT on the way to work. it wasnt icy, the roads were fine but the off ramp was a little slick.
spun the car out, crashed into a giant rock, set the car on fire, and luckily escaped completely unscathed and uninjured.

Politics and religion, hmmm.

Not sure why one would assume all Bears with find 99.99% of what's posted under this category a minor premise.
Love your work, but find this a very one-sided aspect/POV of otherwise entertaining and enjoyable shooting the bear shit.
For the love of Oski, there are Bears who disagree, but do not care to debate.

Loved Gregor. Could make dry toast interesting. 🤔
Agree that most faculty are centered. Left-centered, but still Constitutional. I liked Muir, too.
I, too, was a Poli Sci major, as well as a double major in Rhetoric.
I was a debater in high school. Gave up football for it. I regret that choice. Try to avoid sophistry.
To say anything argumentative, here, on DBD, feels as pointless as doing the same with on the screaming denizens of Sproul Plaza. 😵💫
Good times.
Loved how Gregor always ended the class by addressing the students as "comrades," an irony that I think was lost on the many of his students.

Loved his characterization of NY dock workers regarding Marxist texts.
"Whatta' doin' with that submersive stuff."
To illustrate why Marxism won't work in the US.
Politics and religion are taboo, which is why they are interesting to discuss! 😀
