Europe. Far right parties surge in popularity for the European Parliament, far left loses. France's Emmanuel Macron's centrist Renaissance party earned fewer than half the votes of the right winged National Rally Party. As a result, he dissolved French parliament and called for snap elections, gambling that national elections tend to be more centrist than European-wide elections.

In Seoul for work at the Intercontinental COEX. Buffet lunch was a variety of foods, including Korean, Japanese (some sashimi, nigiri, and tempura). Also a couple of soups including essentially egg drop (though they didn't call it that) that was way too thick. Too much corn starch.

Not too bad.

They also provide breakfast which is a variety of western and asian breakfast foods. Also some good fruit including dragon fruit, yellow kiwi, and others.

Had KBBQ on Sat night, just a chicken caesar salad on Sun for dinner at the hotel since by the time I did some late sightseeing, most of the restaurants I wanted to go to were closed, and may try Japanese conveyor belt sushi tonight. I've read that many of the other sushi places are Korean-style and not great.

Also going to try to meet up with No 1's GF's parents since they happen to be here (never met them) and go to a Korean baseball game later this week.

Korean baseball game sounds fun. i wonder how it is different from Japan

Not sure. Never been to an NPB game though I would love to. I was at a KBO game in 2019 the last time we had a testing event here. Lots of cheering from fans in Korea. Each player has a different song that usually is using a tune from a popular song. Lots of call and response cheers between the fans between innings. It seems like typically the fans sit on the side of the field their team's dugout is on. They have cheerleaders and drummers. After the 5th(?) or 6th inning, there is like a 15 min break where the players go out on the field and stretch. That was...weird. Manfred would've cut that shit right out to "speed up the game".

This is the best thing for her frankly. She clearly needs a break from the hoopla and for her mental and physical wellbeing.

Why not just use her as a three point specialist off the bench, to get her on roster? Seems weird; the USA women’s team is going to annihilate every opponent anyway

“We just got to know that every game has its own story.” — Jaylen Brown

BOSTON — The story of Game 1, the story of these NBA Finals, is Boston Celtics guard Jaylen Brown.

Celtics forward Kristaps Porziņģis was a standout storyline with a terrific but unexpected performance after being inactive for more than a month. But Brown was the tone-setter, as he has been for Boston throughout the postseason.

Winn far from winsome as win-less streak continues

https://www.mccoveychronicles.com/2024/6/9/24174991/mlb-final-giants-rangers-6-9-2024-recap-keaton-winn-marcus-semien

Keaton Winn hadn’t thrown a pitch for the San Francisco Giants since May 14th. A start in which he got knocked around for 5 runs over 4 innings against LA then went on the injured list with a forearm strain. It was the latest issue in a month full of them for the young starter. In three outings in May, he had given up 17 runs over 8.1 innings—a shocking turn since his first 6 starts were dream-like, especially for a kid in his first season breaking camp with the Major League staff.

The Dodgers capped off their series against the New York Yankees on Sunday, with the Dodgers falling to the Yankees by a final score of 6-4, failing to secure their first ever sweep of New York.

Tyler Glasnow got the start for the Dodgers, who entered as the only pitcher in baseball with at least 100 strikeouts on the season. Luis Gil got the start for New York, entering having led the American League in both ERA and ERA+.

Lots of Dodgers fans in the NE. And they travel well, especially to iconic ballparks. There's the Pantone 294 fan club that always chooses a couple of away games each year where the "invade" the stadium. Get like 5000+ fans sitting in the same section.

Maybe it's not just iconic ballparks. I guess just choosing from any away game each year. I was hoping they'd do a Baltimore/Pittsburgh roadtrip because those are two ballparks I want to see. Maybe at some point.
