Athletics Smacked By Astros 11-4

https://www.athleticsnation.com/2025/6/18/24451896/athletics-smacked-by-astros-11-4

A day after getting their pants knocked off, the Athletics had the exact same thing happen again, getting beat down by the division-leading Houston Astros 11-4 to guarantee at best a series split for the A’s. Not a good night all around.

Looking at the Forbes list from end of 2024, it looks like an overpay. Forbes has them as the 8th most valuable pro sports team at 7.1 billion. The Warriors are #2 overall at 8.8 (presumably because they own the Chase Center) and Knicks at #5 overall at 7.5. Paying 40% more than the perceived value seems like a huge overpay.

Yes, but I'd assume that pretty much every time a major sports franchise is bought it will be an overpay. They are extremely scarce resources.

https://www.truebluela.com/2025/6/18/24451498/will-smith-walk-off-home-run-dodgers-padres

The Dodgers pitching depth chart of available players on Wednesday was perhaps its shortest of the season, but Emmet Sheehan and Justin Wrobleski made it work to get through nine innings. Then Will Smith hit a pinch-hit, walk-off home run in the ninth inning for a 4-3 win over the Padres at Dodger Stadium.

Honestly, my hope is that they truly are "interim" and that there is another leadership plan going forward.
