I love how they asked you to take the paper inside. Sorta like when someone writes a long note and write "Over ->" on the bottom (early Ellen DeGeneres)
When my daughters were little I would occasionally put a note in the school lunch my wife made them, saying how much I loved them and how proud of them I was.
our 19 yr was saying just this week how we could have been more supportive and enthusiastic and positive reinforcement oriented about her school, sports, work stuff.
I used to work at the same company as my wife, who is a big maker of lists and notes to herself on post-its. I would sneak down to her desk and make ridiculous lists to brighten her day.
"Hall of Fame" game features everything you'd expect - Aaron Rodgers not being in uniform, Zach Wilson not being on the field much, Browns missing a field goal, and the Jets eventually losing. As a game, it kinda stunk.
Giants complete seven and two homestead with 1-0 victory over Snakes. Lamont Wade jr. homered for the game's lone run. SF currently has the best wildcard record in the NL. https://www.espn.com/mlb/recap?gameId=401472648
The Oakland Athletics wrapped up their three-game series with the Los Angeles Dodgers tonight at Dodger Stadium in Chavez Ravine. A’s Manager Mark Kotsay sent lefty JP Sears (2-7, 4.10 ERA) to the mound to face a Dodgers team that didn’t seem to be able to miss anything they swung at last night and hit 4 homers in eight innings. Julio Urías, who had struggled early in his outings this season, logging an 11.40 ERA in the first inning took the mound for the Dodgers. It looked like he might continue that trend when with one out, Zach Gelof singled to left field and Ramon Laureano walked on four consecutive pitches. But Brent Rooker ground into a double play to end the inning and allow Urias to escape the jam.
The MLB’s doubles leader, Freddie Freeman showed exactly why he leads the league with his 39th double of the season. Amed Rosario reached on an error by shortstop Aledmys Diaz and Max Muncy walked to load the bases. But JP Sears buckled down and struck out Chris Taylor to keep the Dodgers off the board.
The San Francisco Giants received a fair amount of criticism for remaining stagnant at the trade deadline, opting against trading a top prospect for a short-term boost, or a quality basket of prospects for a marginal upgrade.
Farhan Zaidi, when addressing this criticism, shrugged, said that bullpen games aren’t the team’s desired mode, but that damn, they sure are good at them.
The Dodgers matched a season high with six doubles, some from expected sources and some unexpected, finishing off a sweep of the Oakland A’s, 8-2 on Thursday night at Dodger Stadium.
Miguel Rojas drove in each of the first two Dodgers runs, doubling home Kiké Hernández in the second inning and plating Max Muncy in the third. It’s been an unexpected power series from Rojas, who hit his first home run of the season on Wednesday.
Because of S1 of Hulu's "The Bear", I've noticed that a local deli serves Italian Hot Beef sandwiches. They are pretty expensive - like $16/each - for counter-service. But it is so worth it. I had one today.
Going to do some straightening and cleaning around the house. I turned on the TV for background noise and a rerun of an episode of Bonanza was starting - co-starring Dawn Wells as an Indian woman.
we are going to Japan this summer and having dinner at Gonpachi in Tokyo, famous for the filming of the House of the Blue Leaves scene in Kill Bill Vol. 1. i was originally going to avoid it since it seemed like just an Instagram-worthy place, but my uncle has been twice and said the food is quite good.
so we were watching that scene of the movie last night. more scenes to follow in the coming days.
we are going the last 2 wks of Aug. we have been duly warned about how hot and miserable we will be, but are going anyways.
i havent been "frequently" but a bunch of times to have some opinions. also 7 of 9 of us have never been so we are still doing something of a "greatest hits" tour that includes Tokyo, Kyoto, Matsumoto (in the mountains) and Kanazawa (on the western coast)
I've never thought of Kanazawa as being on the west coast...but it is on the west coast of its northern peninsula. and it's Shinkansen-able now! the old samurai district. I think last time I went there, it was faster to Shinkansen from Tokyo to Nagoya and then take the express train (Thunderbird??) up. Rather then meander thru the Japan Alps...but that could be nice also!
I guess it depends on whether you're going there from Kyoto or from Tokyo...
"Sources tell me the PAC 12 grant of rights has very little support in the conference, 2/9 as it stands"
Of course, "sources" may not be accurate but if OSU and WSU were the only votes in favor of keeping the league together, it means everyone else thinks they can get a better deal elsewhere . . . including Cal and Stanford. This thing isn't over.
I feel like we need to get the Big 12 and ACC on the phone. If we just sit by the phone waiting for the Big Ten to call, we will be screwed bc we would have no leverage at all
If this is true, WOW. I'm shocked. Uncle Phil should have plenty of money for travel costs. Though I guess it's the non-revenue sports that will get killed.

Please can you give A and A a hug and, kiss when you get home.
Papa when you get home can you take this paper inside
Love, A and A
maybe i should start using A1 and A2 to refer to the kids sort of like HAG's 1,2 and 3 ...
I love how they asked you to take the paper inside. Sorta like when someone writes a long note and write "Over ->" on the bottom (early Ellen DeGeneres)
early Ellen DeGeneres was the best. especially her long drawn out stories and situations during her standup comedy routines.
Her early stuff was the best. Stories that tied together.
When my daughters were little I would occasionally put a note in the school lunch my wife made them, saying how much I loved them and how proud of them I was.
That's a good idea. Once Cf98 and Es99 can read, I'm going to start doing that once in a while
that is very nice.

that's what I figured :-)

The bad news is that ole Knowlton isn’t even aware anything happened.
maybe if we all just invested in better uniforms like the Ducks we would be better off!

Looking at you fUCLA!
Travel costs aren't just monetary. There's also a loss of time. Unlike money, you can't recover time once you've lost it.
That's the downside for the LA schools in their move to the B1G. Their athletes and coaches will pay the price.
Maybe we can stay in conference, get the Calimony, and strike a better deal with Apple. Not sure how it will all pan out.
Everything's all coming up Millhouse!
