Our terrier-mix, Oliver, puts on the skids after he gets leashed up for a walk. He started this about 2 weeks ago. I check to see if he has something in his pads and he never does.
i feel like i got lucky .. but this is ANNOYING since i am not sort of stuck w/ this behavior. otherwise since it is my work laptop i would have had to get it fixed or get a new one.
When people say “if I’m being honest” as a (intended to be suspenseful or lending gravity I guess) preamble to something they’re saying. Always begs the question, why would you not be honest with me? Same with “I’m not gonna lie” or “to tell you the truth.” Yeah, I hope so, but it’s also okay to pull my leg sometimes.
Oof, these all get my goat! For me, it raises the more pointed question of “just how often are you dishonest with me?!” I don’t have a problem with “Let me be frank”.
If it were football, you are advocating for a 2-straw warning. And how many fan bases and program investors have become frustrated by a move that was subsequently referred to as "the last straw"? Never a situation you want to find yourself in!
Like a fine wine, Thea LaFond (30) has steadily climbed the world triple jump standing. This year, she put it all together, winning the World Indoor track championship in Triple Jump and then winning a Gold Medal. This was the first Olympic gold medal for tiny Dominica (pronounced DominEEka, which is a different country than the Dominican Republic).
Former Olympic champion Marianne Vos (Netherlands) and reigning world champion Lotte Kopecky (Belgium) finished 2-3 behind Faulkner after they were stunned by the 31-year-old winner’s audacious late attack.
I thought of you this morning. I got home from a dental appointment and the scroll across the bottom of USA network said bouldering, but they were showing something else. Didn’t one of your daughters do climbing?
Kaylia Nemour was born and raised in France to Algerian parents and holds dual citizenship. She is France's best gymnast, but left off the national gymnastics team because of a hullaballoo surrounding clearing her from bone spur surgery and requiring her to move to one of the national training sites. So she competed for Algeria and earned a gold medal for herself in the uneven bars, the first gold in Algerian history.
The blistering A’s offense that greeted fans out of the All-Star Game break is beginning to cool down. Heading into this evenings rubber-match against the Los Angeles Dodgers, the A’s had been shutout in two of their last three chances.
Some progress made for a more dedicated Oakland sports future? Hoping this will mark a new, positive chapter, potentially bringing a franchise or franchises back to the Town; some relief from the limbo that has existed for the Coliseum site, anyway.
I am kind of skeptical that any other major sports franchise would want to move into Oakland, given that the Bay Area market is already served by a team in each of the top leagues and said team would almost certainly raise major objections to another one encroaching on their territory.
Yeah, if the Schools over Stadiums political action committee can’t get it’s ducks properly in a row to qualify a referendum (they’re now aiming to rework their ballot measure for the 2026 ballot, after their attempted referendum proposal this year was shot down upon appeal in May by the Nevada Supreme Court), we can only hope Fisher’s ineptitude along with the increasingly perceived financial non viability of a MLB on the Vegas strip will prevent him from getting the other (private) funding necessary to actually get the project moving there. Then, you have to hope he will come to the conclusion he must SELL THE TEAM. Even then, though, it is not a forgone conclusion the A’s will return to the Bay Area.
Those of us who count themselves as A's fans may have to be content with forcing Fisher to sell. Once the A's stop playing in the Coliseum it will become much harder to get them back even if Fisher were to sell.
My view is that MLB has made such a hash of this thing that putting the franchise back in the Bay Area will have significant opposition within MLB, not the least coming from the Giants.
We’ve seen it before: Matt Chapman charging in from the deep reaches of the infield to pluck an ambling grounder from the grass, a slow roller so poorly hit it was perfectly hit, destined to be legged-out, destined to wreak havoc, destined to ruin a pitcher’s day, a game, a weekend series, a postseason push.
The Dodgers bullpen got back on track this weekend against the A’s, including protecting a one-run lead for the final 13 outs in Sunday’s 3-2 win over the A’s at Oakland Coliseum.
It’s been a rough time recently for the Dodgers bullpen, who posted a 5.49 ERA in July. But during this weekend series, the first three games in August, Los Angeles relievers allowed only one run and no walks in 11⅓ innings, with 12 strikeouts.
There never was a reason for JD Vance if TFG was serious about winning. If he was serious about winning he would have chosen someone like VA Gov. Youngkin. Or Marco Rubio and moved his registration to New York.
Given that TFG held a rally in Atlanta and ran down Gov. Brian Kemp, you really wonder if he wants to win.
I don't disagree. But at some point, not winning doesn't become a viable strategy if your goal is to avoid prosecution for crimes because you're a candidate for POTUS.
He's going to spend a lot of time, energy, and money for doing something he could have avoided just by not having run for POTUS in 2015. And he's going to end up in jail if he doesn't win.
SCOTUS returns Jan6 case back to Judge Chutkan, who then set the initial trial steps for next week but will almost certainly not happen before the election as Judge Chutkan has the onus of showing that she has gone through all the necessary processes. One thing Judge Chutkan does have the option of doing is an evidentiary hearing, which will publicize negative things ahead of the election
New allegations surface against HC Sanders at Colorado due to his nepotism and culture of chaos. In my view, this will not end well for Deion or the Buffs - but the Buffs will tolerate nearly anything given how much money he's brought in.
Who on earth would send their child to a Sanders-coached program? It doesn't sound like he should be anywhere near young people let alone being a supposed coach/mentor/teacher/role model.
1917 (Netflix WB 15/19). The movie's hook is that it is shot as a single-take film (like Birdman and The Player) - actually a pseudo-single take stitched together with editing. The single-take approach gives the viewer an over-the-shoulder experience of two soldiers sent on a mission. On one-hand, it gives the viewer a much a fairly unique sense of connection with the protagonists since we literally share their point of view. On the other hand, the point-of-view, the film's plot, and the film's love of "Chekov's Guns" give the film the feeling that its on rails - that the protagonists have a single path to suffer toward a goal rather than a open-world full of choices and consequences. Was the point of view gimmick worth it? Yeah, I think it was, certainly worth experiencing.
I just watched One More Shot on Netflix and it was similar. Action movie stitched together to look like a single-take film. Took me a while to realize it and No 3 came in in the middle and also noticed it.
we were in Italy for 10 days and just got back on Sat. still waking up around 430a-530a. it is not bad for watching the Olympics though.
We spent 10 days in Italy. 2 nights in Venice, 6 nights in the Dolomites which are the mountains in the north, and a few days near Bergamo where we spent one morning driving fast cars on a race track.
It was stunning scenery in all directions. We hiked 3 days one of which was a via ferrata, and rode mountain bikes another 2 days. We ended up staying at a nice spa/hotel type place since wife is not one for multiday hikes nor did we plan far enough in advance. It was our 25th anniversary trip, so we treated ourselves a little nicer than average.

i left my laptop out in the rain and now the fingerprint reader doesnt work anymore. so i am constantly having to type out my password
luckily most everything else seems perfectly functional
Just the fingerprint reader doesn't work? I would have expected worse.
i feel like i got lucky .. but this is ANNOYING since i am not sort of stuck w/ this behavior. otherwise since it is my work laptop i would have had to get it fixed or get a new one.
i also left my new camera out in the rain and it seems to fine. of course it does not have a fingerprint reader so maybe it is not a fair comparison.
So as long as my electronics don't have a fingerprint reader, I can leave it out in the rain? Got it!
leaving books and papers and napkins out in the rain is not a good idea though.

And an umbrella drink.
It’s time once again for Oski Disciple’s question of the day.
We often hear about something being the last straw. Why no warning when there’s still a straw or two to go?
If it were football, you are advocating for a 2-straw warning. And how many fan bases and program investors have become frustrated by a move that was subsequently referred to as "the last straw"? Never a situation you want to find yourself in!
maybe it is because one straw is all it really takes?
Because the warning is usually, "You're getting on my last nerve!"
Clearly I've stumped y'all with this one.

Well, of course Fisher sold his share. He made about $80 million on that deal.
Damn, he really is the worst.
I'm just hoping that the Vegas stadium funding falls through.
If Fisher's name were ever announced at a Cal game, I would hope that those in attendance don't boo him. I hope they give him a Wisconsin Musky clap.
Derision is better than hatred.
Would be hilarious if they need to return and can't get into the Coliseum.
Or need to keep playing in a minor league stadium in Sacramento.
