The so-called Freedom Caucus is saying they will shut down the government unless the establishment GOP caves to their demand that people need to bring proof of citizenship to vote. Like, exactly how would that work?
Perhaps you heard that Trump oddly campaigned in deep red Montana rather than any swing state. His plane broke down and is currently undergoing repair, but not before begging is devotees for money to repair it. He went to his backup plane, which he literally bought from the estate of his old pal Jeffrey Epstein
In a pre-season game between Jacksonville and Kansas City, Jacksonville was kicking off after a TD late in the 1st half. The kickoff landed in the end zone and then bounced into the field of play and settled at the one-yard line. A KC return team player, intending to create a touchback, positioned himself in the end zone and picked up the ball. He created a safety.
Critical difference in the rules between last year and this year: the ball remains live until the play is blown dead. Which means that if you pull the ball into your own end zone from the field of play and down it in your own end zone, you've created a safety.
Three years after Aaron Rodgers told reporters he'd been "immunized" against the COVID-19 virus, the quarterback says in a soon-to-be-published unauthorized biography that he should have been truthful about his status.
Rodgers, who previously said the controversy had a dramatic impact on his public image, told author Ian O'Connor that the primary reason he claimed he was "immunized" was the statement represented "the crux of my appeal."
The Oakland Athletics were going for the series win against the Toronto Blue Jays this morning at Rogers Centre in Toronto, Ontario. The series was a matchup of the fifth-place teams in the American League East and West. JP Sears took the mound for the A’s facing former A’s hurler Chris Bassitt for the Jays.
Matt Chapman may have been a little too jazzed up after his lead-off triple in the 8th. His two singles had already knocked in three of the San Francisco Giants four runs of the day. His three-bagger left his bat at a scorching 105 MPH and put San Francisco just 90 feet away from tying the game at 5.
The Giants, in consecutive, but unrelated, plays managed to run the tieing run into an unforced out in scoring position 2 times. In aggregate, arguably the worst baserunning this side of a bad Little League game all season.
Pads and Dbacks are 4 games up on the last wild card spot and the Giants are 1.5 games out of the last wildcard spot. If things break right for the Giants and the Pads and Dbacks don't suck the last 40+ games of the season, it's possible all 3 wild card spots go to NL West teams.
LOS ANGELES — Sunday had several key markings of a signature Dodgers loss of the last few months. The bullpen blew a lead, and the offense failed to capitalize after scoring early. But the Dodgers also have Teoscar Hernández, who singled to drive in Kiké Hernández to complete a 10th-inning comeback, beating the Pirates 6-5 on Sunday at Dodger Stadium.
NBC/Peacock did a great job with the coverage, and Paris was the ultimate setting. They provided so many ways to dice it up the way you would want to consume it. Adding Snoop and Flav pushed the fun factor and made the Games feel a little more accessible than in the past. Lots of very positive takeaways to build on for the LA Games.
I did enjoy being able to dip into stuff live, and they did a great job putting highlights out on Peacock and YouTube. I'm not the audience for the non-sports content so I appreciated being able to zip on past it
My hope is that John Williams will still be around and able to participate in the Opening. Going to his Hollywood Bowl concerts every year, where his Olympic Fanfare NBC Theme is almost always played, is a staple LA experience.
Given that he will be 96 if he is still around, I won't begrudge him if he opts out.
Oh that is a good idea. Also I like the Chili Peppers, Snoop and Dre (all featured in the handoff last night), but for the popular music type stuff it would be nice to include some more current folks too. Olivia Rodrigo maybe, is t she from SoCal?
Since it’s a domestic Olympics with baseball back in, it would be cool if MLB did an extended all star break and let real players play, but I know it’s incredibly unlikely. I know they have WBC, but since no pitchers are stretched out yet it’s not really the same as a midseason tourney would be
He pretty much solidified his standing as a Top 10 player of all time with that performance.
All of those other superstars on the USA team were basically passing the ball back to Steph because they knew the shots were going in. That's major respect.
had an event at the University Club at the top of Memorial Stadium last night. saw the new ACC branding and there was some practice type thing going on. no one was wearing pads.
I watched "My Name" over the weekend, a Korean series on Netflix about a young woman who infiltrates the police to find the man who killed her father, whom she thought was a member of a drug gang. Nothing wildly original, but Han So-hee can kick my ass anytime
Solid. I think we match up pretty evenly and have some payback due, but it will be a tough environment and probably will be like 90 degrees with high humidity in the late summer Alabama sun. I like our chances, but we may need some things to roll our way to get out of there with a W.
Chee
I had a colleague in Singapore whose nickname was CB - which was short for cibai/cheebai. It's Hokkien slang for the c-word. And she was.

Cheeburger cheeburger! Pepsi Pepsi!
Old SNL sketch based on a real place in Chicago where they do kind of shout like that
Very old sketch. So old, John Belushi and Dan Aykroyd were in the original sketch I believe.
"No Coke.
Pepsi."
The Greek restaurant on Telegraph always reminded me of that.

It’s time once again for Oski Disciple’s question of the day.
Where the hell’s this box that people are supposed to think outside of?
Your favorite, uh, squeezebox.
The one that causes Daddy to never sleep at night.
It is like, in your mind, man
Well you are either inside of it or outside of it, so there.
The one encasing your (in the generic sense) mind...

I remember multiple base running errors vs the Dodgers this year. Ran themselves out of innings multiple times.

Agree - Snoop as commentator was genius

Am I right that his Olympic theme and fanfare had its debut at the '84 LA games?
That is correct.

Temecula, baby
I'm really curious to see where they go with the Opening. Obviously a large portion of it will focus on the entertainment industry.
If he's not able to attend or has passed, I'm almost certain the Opening will feature a tribute.
I am legit excited for LA 28, def plan to go! I figure when else would it be so close to SF?
Picking Cruise as the LA rep was pretty cool I think, nice touch on what is normally a boring torch handoff
Are they still considering some Bay Area sites for the group stages of football?
I looked at the LA 28 website and there was no mention of anything in Bay Area, but maybe they are still working out details?
The Wiki page for venues indicates they are considering Cal Memorial, Levi's, and whatever the stadium in San Jose is called.

the last of those 3's he hit was insane
And yet completely expected to go in as well.
that last one was the one that I was shocked. No 2, No 3, and I were louder and louder after each shot.
When he put that shot up, I thought that there was no way it was going in. I can't believe that Steph can still do Steph things. Unreal.
That was so exciting, the golden dagger! One of most exciting plays I have ever seen
Easily the highlight of the Games.

Gonna be interesting having the oppos on the student side. Could make for some tense rushing the field action.
That's kick-off and kick-off return practice. Interesting enough, the people on the sideline are either starters, linemen, and/or freshmen.
Is that the new kickoff formation? It will take me a while to get used to that.
Go Bears!!!

what are the chances we beat Auburn? they are coming off a couple down years, no ..

I think we have a 50/50 shot at Auburn. They got a great transfer class and good frosh receivers coming in but also still are riding Thorne at QB
Are you saying their QB is a Thorne in their side?
