Game 2 of the 2007 ALDS. Boston was locked in a tie with the Angles in the bottom of the ninth inning with Angels.
K-Rod was one of the game’s best closers at the time. He was an All-Star that season after finishing fourth on the Cy Young ballot the previous year. Manny Ramirez was 1-for-8 with four strikeouts in his career against K-Rod entering this game.
Over time, Manny caught on to how this pitcher was attacking him. Knowing how Rodriguez would approach him allowed Ramirez to craft his own plan.
There was a runner on second with one out when K-Rod relieved Justin Speier in the ninth inning of Game 2. Rodriguez quickly put away Kevin Youkilis by sending him down swinging and then intentionally walked Ortiz to get to Ramirez.
By the time Manny stepped to the plate he had already determined what he was looking for. It came on a 1-0 count, a fastball that Rodriguez tried to sneak inside. Ramirez turned on the pitch and crushed a towering shot over the Green Monster for a walk-off home run.

Sat is nationwide $3 movie day. Got tickets to watch Top Gun Maverick with No 3 at IMAX in Newark. The Regal in Dublin claims it's IMAX but when ordering tickets it shows Standard 2D format and AMC Metreon isn't showing it in IMAX so Newark it is.
So Cal game in the afternoon and Top Gun at night. Showing is at 10 so I think I'm going to have to take a nap.
Watched Kleo on Netflix, a perfectly fun late Cold War series (East German "off the books" assassin gets jailed right before the fall of the Berlin Wall, gets released, decides to find out why she was jailed, mayhem ensues). There was nothing original about it, but it was well done and the lead actress (Jella Haase) was good. The reviews mentioned Killing Eve as an analog, but I haven't seen that, so I can't comment. They plainly left open the chance of a second season, so I'll be curious to see if that comes to fruition.
I can't tell if Paddy Considine is just playing the role as intended, or just an odd choice as actor - I guess I expected more crazy from a Targaryen king?

Kevin Mitchell, bottom of the 13th inning in a scoreless game, Giants vs. Dodgers, Candlestick Park.
Bases were loaded, 2 away. I've forgotten who the Dodgers reliever was. But I do remember that it was a cold and windy night at Candlestick and Kevin Mitchell stepped to the plate looking to get a hit.
On a 1-strike pitch, the pitcher came inside and Mitchell jumped back to avoid the pitch. Didn't matter. Hit him, forcing in the only and winning run.
At Candlestick, the visiting team had to walk out towards right field to get to the visiting clubhouse. I watched LaSorda and the losing pitcher walk past us on the first base side and you could see that Tommy was liberally sprinkling his speech with F-bombs.
Chase Garbers has the more symmetric face to be judged as more hansom? I recall some study from over a decade ago about how QBs, particularly backup IIRC, are often correlated with facial symmetry.
I'm sure he lacks pure talent compared to other QBs in the NFL but I hope with proper coaching and his smartness he can stick around and actually play well if he sees the field.
For the second time in four days, the Dodgers and Marlins needed an extra inning to solve things. The result was the same, with Los Angeles holding on for a 3-2 win on Monday to take three out of four in the wraparound weekend series.
The Dodgers cashed in their free runner to start the 10th, thanks to an infield single by Trea Turner and a fielder’s choice groundout by Freddie Freeman. The single was Turner’s 1,000th career hit and second of the night. Turner now has 161 hits this season, second only to 163 for Freeman, who also had two hits on Monday.
Turner is the 1,372nd player to record 1,000 major league hits, and at the moment is tied with old friend Jamey Carroll on the all-time hit list.
Today the Nats host the A's in a battle between the worst teams in MLB. Despite the terrible record, Washington is still averaging attendance of about 30k per game--tickets as cheap as $8 to today's game probably help bolster attendance...

Dragon thing - just ok
Rez Dogs - Awesome episode with the horny women. Very, very good.
I can't tell if Paddy Considine is just playing the role as intended, or just an odd choice as actor - I guess I expected more crazy from a Targaryen king?

in vogue ≠ (necessarily) attractive ;-)
